The Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood) Bill, 2023, is a Bill for an Act of Parliament to provide a legal framework for the recognition, protection and regulation of street vending in Kenya, the identification of minimum standards for street vending, and for connected purposes. The committee has undertaken extensive engagements with all the relevant stakeholders, including the petitioner, Mr. Nicholas Rono and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Capital Markets Authority (CMA), Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA). The committee is finalising its draft report for consideration and adoption. Next is county visits. During the period, the committee undertook a report writing retreat on 23rd March, 2024, in Machakos County to consider the following legislative business.
