  • 18 Feb 2025 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Let me also take my best opportunity time to thank you and convey my heartfelt condolences to the family of Sen. William Cheptumo, who happens to be a good friend of mine. We happened to be together in the Committee of National Security, Defence and Foreing Relations. This is a very sad moment for this Senate and to the entire nation and the people of Baringo, whom Sen. Cheptumo represented. I happen to be a very close friend of late Sen. Cheptumo, particularly on the wealth and kind of experience that he has regarding ... view
  • 18 Feb 2025 in Senate: Sen. Cheptumo was a great man. We believe that God will help the family, give them protection, and strengthen them at this sad moment. We will continue praying for them. view
  • 12 Feb 2025 in Senate: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Speaker. I also support the Statement by Hon. Sen. Chute on the issue of KRC. It is true that KRC have been in books that they are getting and repossessing land from different institutions and groups. I support this Statement because it has affected most of our communities in different locations. There is one group called the Maa Group around Nairobi, Kenya Railways Headquarters. They have some money that they are still holding particularly for the compensation of the Maasai community. view
  • 12 Feb 2025 in Senate: The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate. view
  • 12 Feb 2025 in Senate: I want to believe that these monies need to be given to the members of the Maasai community on the land that they bought around the Embakasi area. This Statement has indeed come at the right time. We want Kenya Railways to compensate the Embakasi Maasai group, which they are still holding that money. We believe that possibly, they want to give to different groups of individuals. We oppose that. Every person should be compensated in the list that was there who had a right to have that right of that land. I want to believe that this land of ... view
  • 11 Feb 2025 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I take this opportunity to support the list of the Committee of SBC. I also thank the House Business Committee and the leadership of the House for considering one of my Members in the Committee on Tourism, Trade and Industrialization, hon. Crystal Asige who is a very competent Member. I congratulate her for being added in that list. I also take this opportunity to talk about the issue that has been discussed on different occasions and even in my county on the utterances of the Governor of Nyeri on this emotive issue. He talked ... view
  • 31 Oct 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise, pursuant to Standing Order No. 53(1), to seek a Statement for the Standing Committee on Health regarding the medical interns who have not received their remunerations since being posted in August, 2024. This situation has left young health professionals in a state of financial and emotional turmoil. In the Statement the Committee should- (1) Explain the root cause of the prevailing stalemate between the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) and the Government concerning remunerations of medical interns, outlining any efforts by the parties to promptly resolve this stalemate. (2) State ... view
  • 30 Oct 2024 in Senate: Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank you very much for this opportunity that you have given to me. I also thank you for coming up with this important Bill, which tries to give powers to counties, more so the county assemblies. This is how we really need to empower devolution. I want to thank you so much. On the onset, I support this Bill because it brings very important aspects, particularly in the county assembly where they have been dominated by the executive in the counties. The county assemblies have almost everything. They have autonomy; they have fully-fledged ... view
  • 30 Oct 2024 in Senate: County assemblies have the link of Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) and I believe they are also connected to Integrated Payroll and Personnel Database (IPPD). This means that if this Bill is approved by this Senate and therefore, ratified by the National Assembly, we will see a very competent county assembly that has an autonomy to work without any pressure of the executive. The Auditor-General will also have a chance to audit county assemblies on what they have done and the Controller of Budget (CoB) will transfer funds to the right account. As the Senate, we will be sure ... view
