  • 16 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Special Programmes:- (a) why the Government to date has not resettled the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who were evicted from their ancestral homes by shifta bandits in Lamu; and, (b) what steps she is taking to resettle these people and compensate them for their lost land. view
  • 16 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr Speaker, Sir, I am shocked by the reply given by the Minister. I would like to lay on the Table the report which shows the problems the people of Lamu have gone through as a result of the shifta menace. There are about 98,000 people who have suffered. As a result, two months ago, in Mada Island, 60 families were evicted. These are the same victims of the view
  • 16 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: menace. I went to resettle them and now I have a case in court as a result of that. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am shocked that the Minister is saying she is not aware of that issue. There is a report on this issue. I want to lay it on the Table for the Minister to go through so that she may get the useful information that can assist her resettle the people in Lamu. view
  • 16 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, may be the Minister can tell us if her Ministry is there only to resettle those displaced by the post-election violence. If I lay the report on the Table, what plans does she have for the IDPs from Lamu? view

  • 2 Dec 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the Minister has said that they have ten out-board engines. Could he tell this House where they are located and whether there are any for the Coast Province? view
  • 26 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Minister tell us why she is coming to tell this House the shortfalls of the seven groups instead of taking action and dealing with them? Why should she wait for this Question to come to the House in order for her to tell us that? view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Energy:- (a) what he is doing to put to use the four generators purchased by the Lamu East Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in an electrification project, but which are now lying idle without even being tested; and, (b) what other measures he is taking to provide electricity to Lamu East Constituency under the Rural Electrification Programme (REP). view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, while I appreciate the answers given by the Assistant Minister, the survey was done after the generators were bought. It was, subsequently, realised that the project was not viable, because it is very expensive to run four generators in different villages. What I wonder is why the Government would spend Kshs36 million to do wiring when they had not even done the research to see whether the project was viable. The project was not even approved by the REP. Why would the Government spend that sum of money? view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the capacity of the generators are not--- view
