  • 17 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: family of Hon. Nyarangi. We would like to take the opportunity to probably inform the House that we should have a mechanism of remembering some of the people who served greatly in this House even if it is one or two terms. There should be a way that they can be remembered and given an honorary send off. I want to pass my condolences to the family and the people of North Mugirango. Thank you. view
  • 11 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I equally want to join my colleagues in condoling with the families that lost their loved ones in the accident. It is quite saddening. The last time we had deaths of such magnitude was in 2013 or thereabout when we lost about 41 people who were en-route to Kisii. It was very sad. Recently, we lost about 26 lives along Keroka-Kisii Road. It is clear we know what the country is facing. It is clear we know what our problems are. Unfortunately, the authorities do not want to correct the mess. Most of the ... view
  • 11 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: 24-hour economy. Banning night travel is not the solution to curbing accidents. We need to agree that along the way, even during the day, people die in road accidents or road carnage. That clearly shows that it is not about night travel. As a country, we need to enjoy the 24-hour economy, but we need to sort the mess in the country. view
  • 11 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: Our roads are not well marked. At night, one cannot see the road well. When going to Kisii, you will notice that from Nairobi to Narok, the road is not well marked. You will get a few markings past Narok. It becomes very difficult for any driver any time, especially when it rains, to see the lane one needs to drive on. So, it is not about banning night travel. It is just about sorting out some simple mess. Perpetual sorting of problems especially when serious issues have happened should stop. The other time when we had an accident around ... view
  • 11 Oct 2018 in National Assembly: There is equally need for us to define the buses that need to travel long distance. view
  • 29 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I join my colleague in supporting the Petition that he has presented before this House. It is, indeed, true and quite saddening to note that several Members of the public have really suffered out of the massive cracks that happen through the machinery that is being used in the very same quarry. It is important to notify this House that some women have lost pregnancies because the machines crack the rocks with a lot of weight and sound. On a very sad note, some old woman aged 93 lost her life immediately after the very ... view
  • 29 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: I am most obliged, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I support the Hon. Member and I wish that we can actually create an avenue that this matter should be put to rest once and for all because people are suffering. Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I equally rise to contribute. From the outset, I wish that the House in its entirety supports or approves the nominees as presented before us. This is an independent body whose basic role is to oversee the police service and to look at the plight of our good police officers in this country. Having those officers or able men and women in this Commission to exercise their duties and empowering them will help us improve our police service. You will notice that we have come of age. There is a colleague of mine who ... view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: We support what police officers are doing. However, at times, we also need to look at the way they operate. It is very important to have the IPOA. I can see that the membership is okay and it cuts across the board. I agree with the Member who said that the composition is clear. Every tribe cannot be represented here. We need to look at competence but not look at tribe only. I come from Kisii County. I do not need to look at the name of a person who comes from Kisii because it does not matter. If a ... view
  • 22 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: need to look at whether he comes from a certain tribe. We have very big people in our Government structure who do not help us individually. They serve this country. When filling up some of these positions, which are not political or elective, we should consider competence. view
