  • 23 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I equally rise to pass my heartfelt condolences to the family of Hon. Sam Motari who served at that time. Of course, I had not been born then. I have read his story and engaged the people of Nyamira. From the history of the Omogusii people, many may not be aware that the Kitutu people are the cornerstone of Omogusii. We call that clan, the “elephant’s stomach” because it is the largest one. All the clans in Gusii are believed to have emanated from the “elephant’s stomach” which carries the Kitutu people. From the ... view
  • 23 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: On behalf of the people of South Mugirango Constituency and the larger Kisii County, we wish to pass our heartfelt condolences to the people of Kitutu, which was then called Kitutu East. It was a large area. Sadly, Kitutu East was renamed Kitutu Masaba. In terms of land and largeness, it still remains the same. It has not got an opportunity to be divided to have two or three Members of Parliament. It is the only constituency with over 200,000 registered voters and still remains so to date. It becomes very difficult even for Members of Parliament to serve more ... view

  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker, for allowing me to also ventilate on this matter. Hon. Speaker, the issue of NG-CDF is very emotive to us. We are within the pandemic period from March 2020 up to this period. We all remember the lockdown in the entire country that also locked us within our compounds. When there was resumption of studies in schools, our students went back to schools with expectations that their Government would help them. We all must agree that within the period that the pandemic was very high, the children’s parents were not working. The parents of children who ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: It is very wrong for the leadership of this House and Committee Chairs to tell us to pass the Division of Revenue Bill as it is. They are afraid of the disciplinary action that will be taken by the President. This is a wrong direction to take. As a House we are fighting for our people. Unless we receive the full NG-CDF amounts in the next one month, we will not vote. We are demanding the full amount. If we must get a certain percentage then there must be equitable distribution. view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: It does not make sense for me to receive Kshs8 million, Hon. Alice Kshs17 million and somebody else Kshs50 million. How do I explain to my people? What do I do with my Kshs8 million? I have about 10,000 applications for NG-CDF bursaries. Whom do I give? I received Kshs8 million the other day when the rest were receiving Kshs17 million. Who do I give? If there is distribution of money, then it should be equitable. This favouritism that when you sit in the NG-CDF Committee you get the full amount or 50 per cent yet, you happen to be ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: This should be relooked into. There should be no favouritism, it should be equitable distribution. If we receive Kshs10 million, let each of us get Kshs10 million. If we receive Kshs20 million, let each of us get Kshs20 million. The element of giving one Member Kshs50 million and another Kshs5 million should stop. That is all, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 31 Jul 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Deputy Speaker. When I asked earlier that you put the Question, it was just an indication that I fully support the Bill by Hon. Chris Wamalwa without any form of reservations. Hon. Deputy Speaker, there is necessity for us to agree that, as a country, we need to equip and strengthen our leadership skills. You will agree with me, and just like Hon. Ochieng’ The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
