Madam Deputy Speaker, now I know and I am well guided. Thank you very much. Given the very sensitive nature of this matter and no new evidence has been tabled before this Senate, I want to know if that evidence had been tabled before Nairobi City County Assembly. If that was the case, the opposing counsel would be aware if that had been done. Madam Deputy Speaker, in the interest of justice and given the very serious charges that are facing the governor and the very strict timelines, I think it may appear to be more impractical. However, now that ...

Madam Temporary Speaker, I also rise to support what my colleagues have said this afternoon. I want to start by congratulating the 67 Senators of this Senate for the hard work and the many sittings we have had in this Chamber. I believe that we have had over 11 sittings and we tried our best, but we could not never really unlock the stalemate.

I also have sat in the special committee that was assigned to come up with a consensus and we had 17 sittings in that committee, where most days we went from 9.00 a.m. in the morning until about 7.00 p.m. We diligently sat here, went through the numbers and at the end of the day, this afternoon, we were able to come up with a consensus that was then also embraced by this House. So, I am extremely grateful. Madam Temporary Speaker, I would also wish to take this moment to state that there is a fallacy. While there are ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also rise to oppose the Motion and state that as much as I respect the Senate Minority Leader as well as Sen., Wetangula, I believe that is not the right direction. As we sit here today, the country is waiting to hear what it is that the Senate will come up with regarding this formula. Mr. Speaker, Sir, by postponing the decision, we just keep kicking the can down the road. We have had about a year or so to canvass on this formula. We have had many sittings that---

Mr. Speaker, Sir, we have canvassed on this issue of the formula for the last one year. We have had very many meetings. In the last few weeks, we have mobilized, lobbied and come to the House to take the same decision or take the same decision and every time, we have decided to postpone the inevitable. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I believe that it is the right time to proceed. Let what will be, be. It will be the same Senators a week, three months or a year from now. I believe whatever it is that the Senators will come ...

Madam Deputy Speaker, I am surprised that the Senators are talking of how long our Standing Orders allows us to stay here yet they are all aware that the President of the Republic of Kenya, President Uhuru Kenyatta, directed that not even the

Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. Pursuant to Standing Order No. 47 (1), I rise to make a statement on an issue of general topical concern, namely, the eviction of residents of Mariashoni Ward in Molo Constituency, Nakuru County, by the Kenya Forest Services (KFS) and the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). Mau Forest is one of the most important water catchment areas in the Rift Valley and Western Kenya. The forest is the source of at least 12 rivers that feed into three lakes; Lake Victoria, which is the world’s second-largest freshwater lake as well as Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha, ...
