  • 5 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Minister for being very frank, and promising to rectify the situation. Considering that our current Head of State almost lost his life at that spot, when will the Minister take the necessary action at that spot? view
  • 5 Nov 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am satisfied, so far. view
  • 28 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also stand to support the Vote of the Ministry of Agriculture. I want to congratulate the Minister for a very well presented document. I want to agree with the Minister that the allocation for the Ministry is quite low and, as many hon. Members have already said, according to the Maputo Declaration, the Ministry of Agriculture and other line Ministries, is supposed to get around 10 per cent of national Budget. It appears that in Kenya we are not very serious with agriculture. That is why we are suffering, have a lot of problems ... view
  • 22 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Livestock Development:- (a) if he could give the estimated livestock population in Kenya vis-a-vis the number of veterinary doctors and relevant staff in the Ministry; (b) if he could confirm that Kenyan farmers have greatly lost their livestock due to poor disease control owing to inadequate qualified staff in the Ministry; and, (c) what urgent measures he is taking to rectify this major problem relating to food security in the country. view
  • 22 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for being very bold and sincere in actually exposing the serious understaffing in the Ministry of Livestock Development. However, could he confirm that there is a serious danger of the Ministry closing down because the remaining staff members are just about to retire since most of them are around 50 years of age? view
  • 22 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we all know that the under-staffing was as a result of the Structural Adjustment Programmes (SAPs) which were brought about by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. When will the Government discard the implementation of Sessional Paper No.1 of 1986, so that we may start employing? view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, considering that, currently, Kenyans are paying too much for electricity bills, could it be wise to request that since KPLC is in business and making a lot of money, it should invest so that Kenyans are not required to pay any money for connection? KPLC should only gain from the amounts paid for power consumption. view
  • 7 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Water and Irrigation:- (a) whether she is aware that there is a chronic water shortage in Machakos Town; (b) what she is doing about the water vendors who are now supplying the residents with untreated water at high cost; and, (c) what steps the Government will take to end the chronic water shortage. view
  • 7 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Minister for that very good answer. I also want to thank the Government for considering the plight of the residents of Machakos Town. However, I would like the Minister to assure this House that this water will not be diverted to other areas like the Nol Turesh Water Project and find its way to some flower farms. view
  • 7 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Minister give the estimated time of completion of that water project? Could she also assure Machakos residents that they will be the ones offering the labour to the project? view
