Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. I kick it off by congratulating the Committee for the job well done. Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale and the other 10 Members have done this House Proud. Thank you very much. Coming from a county that experienced an attempt to impeach the first Governor of Nyeri County, five years down the line, there was nothing that was delivered to the people of Nyeri County. Mr. Speaker, Sir, my request to the Governor and the leadership of Meru County, it is a high time that they sit together as leaders and realize ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand to support the Motion. Whenever I or any other Senator crosses that Bar, I do not look at them in terms of gender; I consider them as hon. Members of this House. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am a businessman. I know why we have organizational structures and why you delegate responsibilities. I also understand how to manage the most complex matters. Mr. Speaker, Sir, that is why I think going the Committee way is the most efficient way of doing this because some Members, without wanting to refer to any Senator, have become habitual disturbers who will never let anybody finish anything. It is quite unfortunate. I was saying that in the business world, we form special teams because we want to be efficient and thorough. That ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to correct Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale. It is not 408 million Kenyans, but 4.8 million Kenyans. This is the right information.

Thank you very much. It is a point of information as Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale addresses ASAL areas, he should not forget that 52 per cent of Nyeri County is ASAL.

Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I also rise to support this Motion. Looking at the composition of the Members, I have no doubt they have what it takes to do the mandate that has been given to them in that ad hoc Committee. I served for five years as the Chairman of the Mathira Constituency National Government-Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) when the current Deputy President was the Member of Parliament. We changed all the 75 primary schools in Mathira Constituency. We improved the security and the housing of chiefs and sub- chiefs. We also did impactful development and infrastructure ...
