  • 1 Sep 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, that statement needs to be withdrawn! view
  • 26 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to support the Motion. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, many things have been mentioned here, especially on infrastructure. If you look at most of the hospitals that we have, their infrastructure is very bad. I know that the Government has tried to rehabilitate the Kenyatta National Hospital and other hospitals like the Machakos General Hospital, but the Government needs to put more money, at least, to bring these hospitals to the standards that are required. In very home even if you are not infected with HIV/AIDS, you are affected. We have many people ... view
  • 25 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you. I stand to support the Motion. First, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Government for putting more money into the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC). But I would like to see more money being put into it. The KMC used to employ many people from my constituency and, as we talk now, there are some workers who are being laid off because there is no money for expansion. I would really like the Minister to look into that because in the first place the factory was put there to try ... view
  • 24 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support the Motion. I would like to start by saying that we cannot stand here and condemn the police. We should instead ask ourselves the root cause of the problem? Why is the police not delivering? First of all, if we look at their accommodation, they live in very deplorable condition. How do we expect them to protect us when they are living in such condition? If we really want them to take care of us, it is high time we improved their living condition. We know sometimes they die in ... view
  • 24 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, they are children of women and men. They also need to be protected and live in decent houses. We need to give them good equipment and vehicles. Our chiefs and their assistants do not have offices. In fact, most of them operate from their houses. In some constituencies, hon. Members are using Constituencies Development Fund (CDF) to build offices for chiefs and assistant chiefs. This Ministry should be allocated enough money to build offices for them. It is a pity that some of them have converted their homes into offices. Some of them have had matrimonial ... view
  • 24 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, the hon. Members are intimidating me. They should sit down, so that I finish my contribution to this very important Vote! view
  • 24 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, chiefs and sub-chiefs should be provided with offices. The other persons that we are forgetting are the wazee wa vijiji, who take care of our people. They work very hard without pay. These people are very important at the grassroots level. In fact, they are considered as representatives of the Government on the ground. With those remarks, I support. view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to take this opportunity to support the Report. We, as a Ministry, will take this Report very seriously. We know you have put in a lot of work into it by going around the country and getting the views. Some of the views we have heard are very saddening. I can assure you, as a Ministry, we will be able to look into it and take into account most of the things that you have said. I would also want to say that the Government should not be blamed alone. Here, ... view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: On a point of information, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 10 Aug 2010 in National Assembly: Dr. Laboso, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker! I just want to inform her that for the National Youth Service, we recruit from every district. So, if you have a district, your people are recruited from your district. We do not give the positions from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Our officers go on the ground and they recruit from there. Maybe, if she wants information on how many have been recruited from her constituency and district, we can provide that. But we do it as per the districts. view
