  • 19 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise on a point of order regarding two issues. First, last week on Thursday, I mentioned that I had a pending issue before the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning. They told us to hover around today for a miracle to happen, so that we are called to receive Statements and answers. As I indicated, we truly hovered around. At around five minutes to 10 o’clock, we were sent a short message stating: “Sorry for the inconvenience. The Cabinet Secretary (CS) will not be available to answer your Questions or issue Statements.” This is ... view

  • 19 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, let me clarify. I appreciate that the Committee has so much work such that he cannot keep tabs or track of everything that happens. I had two requests for Statements. One Statement was issued on that day and the second one concerning the air strip was not. I must admit and appreciate that with regard to the one on the border crossing point, some movement has taken place. We are moving somewhere. This particular Statement was never presented. They had forgotten about it. I actually reminded him on the Floor. After a few days, he sent me a ... view
  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, on 1st July 2021, I asked a Question concerning the Kenya Transport and Logistics Network. Sometimes about early August, the Vice-Chair of the Committee of Finance and National Planning undertook to get back to me as soon as possible. Unfortunately, when we went there, the Cabinet Secretary did not appear, but sent the Chief Administrative Secretary, who had no clue and had no answers at all. So, I am seeking your indulgence and direction. Now that the ... view

  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I will gladly wait for the formal invitation as they normally do through the Clerk. Nevertheless, I will hover around here on Tuesday waiting to be told of the venue. view

  • 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Today, we stand here debating this Report because of price regulations. Price control all over the world creates a distorted market. We are here because of lack of foresight and because we went for a controlled regime. I have perused through the recommendations by the Committee. As much as they look very wonderful and could be populist, the truth of the matter is that we are failing to address the fundamental issue which lies in the Act that sets the formula. Price control regimes anywhere in the world lead to market distortion. Global prices ... view
