Mr. Speaker, Sir, whereas I sympathize and accept the Petition to the Senate, the reasons that were enumerated are going to be considered. Being a former employee of the institution is not a good reason to deny this individual the opportunity to work in this institution. In fact, it is an answer to this institution because the employee who has been there has insight on the working conditions of this institution. Being a full-time lecturer in Moi University is a plus and a big advantage for this individual. It is like many other Kenyans who are in positions of chairperson ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, last time, the Senate appointed a Committee that dwelt on this issue of the Kenya Airways extensively. I was fortunate to be in that Committee and we interviewed literally everybody to do with the Kenya Airways. Why is it that no action has been taken in the very wide-ranging recommendations that were made by that Committee that affected the operations of the Kenya Airways? Secondly, one of the recommendations and suggestions that were made was that funds will have to be injected by shareholders and the Government of Kenya is one of them. I know that it ...

Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me an opportunity to sympathise with the Senator for Meru, I am sure these sympathies will go to me as well. The Governor for Meru probably tried a bit and even signed for the equipment but the governor of my county, Bomet, who was the first chair of all the governors in the country, brought these bad manners of not serving the people in that capacity, by not signing the documents at all. It is only after enormous pressure from the people that he allowed the County Executive Committee Member (CEC) for Health ...

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support this Report. I thank the Committee that has worked on this Report and given us its views that we are looking at in this debate. I also thank the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) for the work they are doing. They have given us material to use for debate. Although the formula we have had for the last three years has been inadequate in some way, it has served this country well. For the last three years when we have had three financial reports, there has been no conflict between counties. ...

Thank you Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to contribute to the President’s Speech. First, I want to commend and congratulate the President for addressing the nation on a specified day which he chose himself. I consider this to be an important day because it is a day that we all focus on the issues that affect our society. That is why this for me, is an important day. I listened to the State of the Nation Address as one of the Members of Parliament representing the County of Bomet on what Government has done. I was pleased to ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I wish to join my colleagues who have spoken before me in thanking the Rules and Business Committee (RBC) for the wise choice of re-organizing the Members of the Committees. I also thank the people of Kericho County for electing their new Senator, Sen. Cheruiyot, to the right side of the House where the former Senator, who is now the Cabinet Secretary, used to sit. They made a wise choice considering that this is an energetic young man who will definitely work hard and assist them. I also thank the former Senator for Kericho who was ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I also rise to support this adjournment Motion. As I support, last night, I had great experience listening to the Deputy President addressing and answering questions from the public with regard to the state of the performance of the Government so far. As we traverse the country, at the moment, there are many questions which the public needs answered. I commend the Deputy President for having a town hall meeting where questions were fired directly to him and he answered them and perhaps allayed some of the fears that the public had by directly hearing from ...

Thank you Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for assisting me. I said divine intervention because with divine intervention, very good things do happen. The good thing that happened was that there were no injuries among the people who fell from the dais. As we wait for the President’s Speech tomorrow, I hope that he is going to talk about food security. I am sure he is also going to touch on areas of commercial enterprises by the farming communities in this country. In the last few days, there have been a lot of subsidized fertilizers which have been distributed to farmers ...
