  • 29 Sep 2015 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would also like to support and ride on the sentiments that have been expressed by colleagues. I come from a tea growing county and the issues that have been raised are serious. Therefore, I would also like to ask the Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries to also tell the farmers in the country why they have to suffer for 12 months to receive a one-off payment called “bonus” when tea payment is actually done at the fall of the hammer in Mombasa when it is sold. This money is available throughout ... view

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the provisions of our Constitution in Article 57 compels the State to take measures to ensure that the rights of elderly people are taken care of. • 24 Sep 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I just wanted to emphasize the significance and the importance of getting the answer from the Ministry of Labour, Social Security and Services as urgently as possible, as a consequence of the lots of money that President Obama brought when he came to this country. The youths are currently going through elections to put their officials in place, so that they can access these funds. Therefore, the significance of this answer is very critical, so that we can get the youths to access the funds from the banks. view
  • 23 Sep 2015 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I am a Member of the Committee on Health, as well as my colleague, the Senator for Migori. • 23 Sep 2015 in Senate: Yes, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also want to support the suggestion made by Sen. Amos Wako. This document has come as a result of a retreat somewhere. I remember we went to a retreat in a hotel and came up with this fantastic document. I also think we need a further quiet place where we can look at this document and then bring it to the House and follow processes that this House provides for. view
  • 23 Sep 2015 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Speaker, Sir. I wish to thank Mr. Rop who is my constituent for exercising his constitutional right by bringing a petition to the Senate. As my colleague has just mentioned, certainly what the petitioner has petitioned is provided for in our Constitution, and I am sure when this petition goes to the relevant committee of this House, they will probably be informed of the requirements of the law and they should be addressed. I believe that the petitioner has the goodwill and the interest of the country more specifically, because the wage bill is a topical issue ... view
