  • 21 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. The Regional Deputy Director of Intelligence wrote the document on presumption of innocence. If the hon. Member believes that the document is authentic, unless contrary evidence is brought here to show that it is a fake document, I do not think it is proper for us to impute improper motive by saying that it is not authentic. view
  • 7 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is not the only dam in the country that has been shoddily done. In 2002, in Kulumbi and Gorani villages in Lamu West, millions were paid to a private contractor to destroy a perfectly built dam which needed no work. Later on, it fell upon us to spend our personal money to repair those dams and bring them back to order. The problem is at the provincial level. Is the Minister aware of these kichinichini things that are going on in Coast Province in the Water Department? Could he carry out investigations to find out? view
  • 7 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to support the Motion, if for nothing else, but because the districts are already in existence. I think we have to formalise them and undo the wrongs that were previously done. I think it is a responsible thing for us as legislators 1182 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES May 7, 2006 to enact laws to legalise illegalities where no harm was intended and no harm has been done. I would like to propose also that when the Government creates new districts, it should consider moving the town of Kipini which is presently in Tana River District ... view
  • 7 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Jambo la Nidhamu, Bw.
  • 31 May 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when the Goldenberg scandal inquiry was in place, the people who were adversely mentioned were given an opportunity to come up and give their side of the story. The same thing happened with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) evidence on the Anglo Leasing scandal. The people who were adversely mentioned were given the courtesy of appearing and giving their side of the story. Why did the Ndung'u Commission deny people this piece of natural justice? view
  • 3 May 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, are STABEX funds exclusively for coffee farmers or can cotton and cashewnut farmers access these funds? view
  • 3 May 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank hon. Ojode for giving me two minutes of his time. The truth of the matter is that the whole world is faced with inflation. This week, oil prices went up drastically. The price of oil went up to 73 dollars per barrel. Gold is now at 850 dollars, and has never reached that level before. The cause of inflation is not just because of the voracious appetite of China for raw materials and other things. It is not even because of its ambitions. The problem is that America is printing a ... view
  • 25 Apr 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, now that the Minister has been informed of the new development, could he take action immediately to stop the work which is going on illegally? view
  • 25 Apr 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, some people along the coast have received letters from the Land Registrar asking them to return their title deeds for cancellation. Could the good law professor inform us from where the Land Registrar derives these powers? Is the Ndung'u Report superior to the Constitution of Kenya? view
  • 25 Apr 2006 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I did not refer to land that has been allocated or grabbed. I am talking about land that people bought for value. What is the status of title deeds for such land? view
