  • 12 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: to join the road at the Kondele Junction is impossible because of the same issue. That congestion is something that we must deal with. If you look at the Eastlands areas like Bahati, it is like the mzungu thought very well for us. However, when we took over, we never did anything to improve on what was left. When you are coming from that side of Jerusalem and you get to a place like Bahati, the road is so narrow and yet, you are within the estate. So, this Motion should not just end up here. It is something that ... view
  • 30 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to support the Water Bill. As much as we have got a large part of this country being arid and semi-arid, it is also endowed with a lot of water sources. view

  • 21 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I rise to pay tribute to Prof. Ali Mazrui and to pass a word of condolence to the family that he has left behind. Prof. Mazrui is a good example of what the scholars in the world have been able to do. I think from what we have read and what we have seen, it is something that as a country or a Government, we must learn to do so that we can harness the kind of qualities that were in Prof. Mazrui. In 2003, this country through President Mwai Kibaki realized that Prof. Ali Mazrui ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the opportunity to support the Motion. I think with all the various funds that have been managed here, the only issue has been the way they have been brought about. This is because Kazi Kwa Vijana came up as some kind of political statement from the leadership. The same applies to the YEDF and the WEDF when the National Alliance Rainbow Coalition (NARC) Government came to power. The Uwezo Fund was something that was not expected. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: What was expected was that we were going to have a repeat of the elections and there was a provision of Kshs6 billion in the Budget. The President in his wisdom felt that it should be given to the youth, women and those with disabilities. In fact, the training that is going on for the Uwezo Fund for most of us who have been able to witness what is going on, has taken a lot of time. In Vihiga County, those who have gone for training have taken it very positively. In fact, the impression that I got is that ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: told to go and look for employment. There should be a scheme whereby at least, everybody is taken care of. This is going to eliminate discrimination which all of us have heard about. If we will have good training programmes, people will be trained to be able to invest the money. There is no harm in creating schemes where money can be given through the small and medium enterprises. This should be done in every region, so that everybody can access the money when need arises. People do not have to be forced to take the money. Only those who ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to support the President’s Address to the House on the eve of the day he travelled to The Hague. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, there are many ways of looking at it. Our memory sometimes lets us down. If we could--- view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I was saying that I really support the action that the President took. It is only that our memories, sometimes, let us down. If we can remember what happened in this country just before that Monday, what happened when the President came back from The Hague and what is happening today, we should be able to appreciate that the President did the right thing. To those people who believe that the President is their enemy, do they know that if something happens to your enemy, it takes a lot of your time as you ... view
  • 15 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: our business of politics. Once somebody has lost round one, we should celebrate. That is why one is given five years. More than 70 per cent of the hon. Members in this House are new. There are those who have been defeated. If those people were to fuel animosity, there would be no peace in the constituencies. I also went to The Hague as a Kenya because even if you look into the pockets of those who do not support the President, you will see the money in them bears the portrait of the President’s father. Why can they not ... view
