  • 28 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, “empathize” is the right word. I empathize with Kenyans whose money is being squandered in this institution. We should get a proper response to this statement. view
  • 28 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to support this Motion. However, I support it with an amendment. I beg to move:- THAT, the Motion be amended by deleting ‘full stop at the end and inserting the following words; “…laid on the table of the Senate on Wednesday 27th July, 2016 and pursuant to Article 113 of the Constitution and Standing Order 155(3) of the Senate Standing Orders, approves the mediated version of the Bill.” I request Sen. Sang to second. view
  • 26 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this is a serious matter. One of the reasons I have risen to add my voice on this issue is that Chesumei, the village from where these children disappeared is next to my county. The following week after the children disappeared, similar cases have been reported in areas like Bureti and parts of my county. When I observe the casual nature in which this matter is being handled and the response that we are receiving - being told that we should give the Ministry two more weeks – we realize that there is a problem. We have ... view

  • 19 Jul 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance. I rise to support this Bill. Today, I have learnt something. Many times I refer to the Senate as the House of the slightly aged or the elderly. I have realised how useful they are, especially to us, young parliamentarians. I walked into this Chamber today with the intention of opposing this Bill. However, I had a chat with one of the slightly elderly Senators and he inducted me well into the practices of Parliament. Sen. (Eng.) Muriuki asked me two questions which informed my position on this Bill. ... view
  • 19 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I commend Sen. (Prof.) Lonyangapuo for thinking outside the box as may be put. The Bill may not be popular in some quotas but its implications are far reaching because it is about reforming the public service in the counties. With those many observations, I beg to support though with the promissory note handed over to the sponsor of the Bill and the Committee that some of the concerns that have been raised are addressed. Thank you. view
  • 19 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me the opportunity to recognize this young breed of future leaders. Worth noting to them is that we disagree many times in this House. I am sure that in the course of their time in the Public Gallery, they will notice that we seldom disagree with each other, but we do it in a civil manner. • 12 Jul 2016 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this chance. I rise to support this amendment. Before I do so, allow me to congratulate my colleague and dear friend, Sen. Wamatangi, for what I consider a very well thought out amendment. During my very first days in the Senate just a few months ago, I read the Order Paper and kept on seeing the Micro and Small Enterprise (Amendment) Bill. It kept on ringing in my mind that it something worth of interest. For one reason or the other, I never considered going through the records just to find ... view
