Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I join Hon. Sankok in saying that the people of Laikipia need justice just like other people. In fact, in the last Parliament, and in this one too, I have raised a couple of issues on land between my constituency and that of my brother, Hon. Murugara. If you have noticed, there are very many land matters which come to this House and never get resolved. I hope that this one will be solved, as well as the matter of absentee landlords. As long as somebody has a valid title, that is what should matter and ...

I wish the Departmental Committee on Lands could also be involved in those things because Hon. Sankok raised a similar Question in the morning and has just mentioned it again. It would have been better if the Departmental Committee on Lands was also involved.

Hon. Speaker, thank you. I want to support this Petition. In this country, we tend to be thinking that we have a right to be elected each and every time. There comes a time that we have to give others space as well. I believe that if it is possible, let it be prosecuted and I will be one of those who will be voting for it. I support the Petition.

As we approach the elections next year, we need to tame people’s appetite for violence and not just burning things. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. From the outset, I congratulate Hon. Keter for bringing this Bill. As previous speakers have said, the rate of unemployment in this country is over 60 per cent. When the youth apply for jobs, they face so many bottlenecks. They are required to comply with so many requirements such as producing Certificates of Good Conduct, clearance certificates from the CRB, among many other certificates. Complying with these requirements takes much time and money. By the time you get the certificates, the time frame for application has already lapsed. The cost of implication is also ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. The other day, some nursing jobs were advertised in the United Kingdom. Some 3,000 vacancies were available, but we had more than 20,000 applicants for the jobs. For every one job in Kenya, we have about 4,000 applications. It becomes very difficult when we have so many people applying for jobs and at the end of the day, only one becomes successful. So, we need to see how people can get jobs as well as be self-employed. We have the Uwezo Fund, the Youth Enterprise Development Fund and the Women Enterprise Development Fund. The ...
