  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for the compliment. You know we are approaching Christmas. It is definitely important that we start preparing ourselves. The matter before us is important. Unfortunately, there is not much time. I listened very carefully to the President’s Address. I agree with those who have raised an issue with the time the President appeared in Parliament. The tradition of this House is to keep time. Parliament has always kept time. It is not fair for Members of Parliament to wait for His Excellency the President for over one hour. Without appearing like we are lecturing ... view
  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: funding? Were the housing funds delayed? Is it poor execution of projects? Is it the cartels that always want to control things? Are there people planning on how to get into this issue? I was also unhappy because I did not hear of good progress in the tea and coffee sectors. Farmers in my county and in tea and coffee growing areas have been waiting for better returns on their produce. We still do not have that. Therefore, farmers require subsidies on fertilisers. Those products are still very expensive and the Government has not taken this mater seriously by providing ... view
  • 1 Dec 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. We must never forget the youth because our country’s future lies with them. The growth and development of our youths must be a priority for this country. As they leave universities, they should be able to get into the job market, even as trainees. That is not happening. Universities are being mishandled. I expected a better approach to these issues because of the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and the lack of funding in universities, which is still a challenge. When we went to university, we had accommodation, tuition and even living allowances. When ... view
  • 6 May 2021 in National Assembly: On my own behalf, Kandara, Murang’a, the entire Republic of Kenya and in defence and promotion of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, I vote no. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view

  • 23 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Yes, I am donning black attire because I have come from a burial of Hon. Wamaua’s father-in- law, which was in my constituency. I wanted to attend this Session, and there was no time to change. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. view
  • 23 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: I hope Hon. Members are not making a pass on me. I have big daughters. So, let us talk when we get outside. I give my condolences on behalf of myself, my family and Kandara constituency. I join my colleagues, especially the Hon. Member for Kitutu Masaba, Hon. Mose, as he mourns the former Member of Parliament, the late Samuel Motari Mong’are. I have goggled very quickly to find out who he was. I cannot see much. Therefore, those who are saying we need some archive, record or data are proper. I do not agree that we need monuments. What ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I do not want to join Hon. Millie Odhiambo because she has a different trademark. Thank you very much for the opportunity to speak to this issue. I am one of the Members who were saying ‘no NG-CDF money, no quorum’. Our NG-CDF account has received two disbursements, one of Ksh9 million and another one of Ksh8 million. We are in March and the total amount Kandara has received is Ksh17 million. I am told there are Members who have received less than that or zero. So, we are not speaking to politics. We are speaking about development ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Kimunya, the Leader of the Majority Party, made a grave mistake that informed the mood that you saw in the House. He threatened Members with dissolution of the House. He was doing that to whip Members. How do you threaten Members with dissolution of the House? Would he not be affected by the dissolution? Unfortunately, he said that the dissolution would be by the Head of State. I do not think he had such a brief. He needs to go back and learn public relations. We put the Chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, Hon. Kanini Kega, to ... view
  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: I want to take the middle ground. A majority of us are in agreement that the NG-CDF matter is a priority. Therefore, we could be persuaded to actually defer this matter but the deferment must be followed by action. We want the money in the constituency accounts. We do not know whether Kenya is broke. It cannot be broke. We have agreed Kenya is not broke. The other issue is that we want to see allocation of the remaining money in the Supplementary Budget. Hon. Kanini Kega said he would include the money in the second Supplementary Budget. We do ... view
