• 14 Oct 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I thank the Committee for a job well done. Instead of blaming the President, this House would have overturned that memorandum through two-thirds majority. Secondly, we need to reduce the price of fuel to below Ksh100. It hurts our people. Prices of goods and services have gone up. The Government should look for another alternative of raising revenue to finance the Budget. Thank you very much. view

Today I am very happy that we are making noise and raising many complaints because of the high prices of fuel. For us in northern Kenya, this is a usual thing. As we speak, the price of diesel has gone up to Kshs135 per litre. In Baragoi, a litre of petrol retails at Kshs150. • 21 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Ethiopia and Somalia to buy fuel and foodstuffs because those commodities are very expensive in the Kenyan side of that region. So, as the Committee looks at these issues, I would also like them to find a way of regulating the prices of fuel across the country, and not just in Nairobi and other big cities, leaving greedy merchants to exploit Kenyans in other parts of the country. • 19 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: On the issue of food security, there is a serious problem as we speak of provision of food. Because of drought and shortage of food, our people are suffering. In fact, the Government has discontinued supply of relief food to the local people in distress. The way to go is to construct big dams so that we can irrigate the land. A lot of rain water goes to waste. Boreholes are not the best way to go. Mega dams can be constructed, especially in Northern Kenya, and we use their water domestically and to do irrigation. view
• 19 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: On the third Petition, just as my colleagues have said, as Samburu we face a lot of injustices. When there is drought, like the current one; and when we venture into Laikipia, our cows are killed. Can you imagine the literal shooting of cows and other animals? Cows are innocent but they are killed. Last time they killed more than 3,000 cows. The other day they killed another 300. That is very uncouth. I support the regulations of the Equalisation Fund and it should have happened two years ago. The Fund is an affirmative action, just as my colleagues have said, because of marginalisation. • 6 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: I urge Members to pass the Regulations because we have stayed for almost 13 years without the release of the funds. Even the little that was released was not utilised fully. In Samburu North, eight projects have stalled out of the 352 that were initiated. Eight are from Samburu North and it is because of non-utilisation of the Fund.
