When she was elected she gave out her first three months’ salary to charity. Annah Gatheca prides herself of starting the Kiambu Women Sacco that has attracted over 5000 members. She has laid plans to help women groups embark on dairy, poultry and vegetable farming with an eye for the international market.

This is particularly so because they are close to Nairobi and have been the victims of a lot of violation of human rights when they go to seek employment in the Middle East. Within three months of arriving at her work station, she was murdered. The family was not made aware of her death until a year later. It took not just a year for the parents to get that information, but another six tragic months of this family moving from office to office within the Foreign Affairs Department trying to get whatever legal assistance was possible.
