  • 16 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Therefore, I support the adoption of the Report. I hope it means that Kenya will have significant seats. I am sure that in terms of Kenya leading in the gender issue, we will have enough of our women represented despite the fact that this House wants to throw out the issue of increasing the number of women in Parliament. I know that this House will discuss some of these issues. We will continue to uphold the issue of women’s rights in this country. With those remarks, I support. view
  • 17 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker and the Mover for the one minute. I just want to inform the country and this House of our commitment and re-energising of ourselves in the fight against corruption. The Public Audit Bill allows us to do that, and we have to invest a lot more resources in the Office of the Auditor General to make sure that the law is implemented. It is very worrying that corruption has come back to this country in an unprecedented way. The rumour that there is corruption puts us in the fear that where there is smoke, ... view
  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the opportunity to contribute to this Motion. I rise to support the Report by the PAC and to congratulate the Committee as well for the good work that they have done. They found a backlog and have managed to work extremely hard to ensure that we have updated budget Reports. This is timely because it will finally put an end to all the noise that has been going in the country with regard to pesa mashinani. The fact that this has been domiciled in the Opposition Members’ docket, hopefully, it will cool down ... view

  • 13 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: No! Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. It is not only a timely Bill, but one that provides sufficient justice for persons who have been detained or whose liberties have been deprived. I want to, particularly, bring to your attention an issue that took place a few days ago in Kikuyu. One of my constituents went to a police station to pick a P3 Form because she had been raped by a neighbour, only to be raped by a police officer. As a result, her three months child died while ... view
  • 13 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: with their families and ensures that the particular person whose rights have been deprived has contact with their family. This Bill also provides that once a child is arrested or detained, and if they do not have a next of kin, their area chief will be notified. If there are no relatives, the area chief or administration will note where they come from. Should anybody go to claim them at any point in time, there will be record. The record-keeping aspect of this Bill ensures that we maintain the rights and dignity of every single individual. It gives the details ... view
  • 12 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. If there is anything that we can pride ourselves in as Kenyans, it is in devolution that takes resources and services closer to the people of this country. When we look at this Bill, it is not timely; it has come past time. I thank the Mover of the Bill for bringing it because if we look at this country, the amount of resources and funds that have been channeled to the counties by the national Government to Kenyans at large--- It is important ... view

  • 12 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: cases are in court, or have been challenged, are because the officers who have been assigned the duty, or the responsibility of doing an evaluation that is truthful and is in the best interests of this country are not doing what they are supposed to do. They sit down and collude among themselves to ensure that they make decisions that only benefit themselves and not Kenyans at large. These people must be held accountable.
