  • 5 Jul 2016 in National Assembly: If we want to be respected, we must respect others and the very institution that we sit in. We must respect and honour the authority of the Chair. Otherwise, we may as well ask you to excuse yourself and get Justice Odunga, Justice Mumbi Ngugi and others to come and sit there and conduct the business of this House. view

  • 30 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to also support the Petition by Hon. Wanyonyi. view
  • 30 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: My comment is to support the Petition by Hon. Tim Wanyonyi, my very good friend. In light of what many Members have said and in view of what I said in this House yesterday, it is important to note that many of the militia gangs that I was speaking about are domiciled in our universities. It is not just in Nairobi, but in all university campuses across the country. I expressed concern yesterday that one of the gangs called “Gaza” is a militia group recruiting students from as low as Class Six to high school. It is not a coincidence ... view
  • 30 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. If I had evidence in the recruitment of militia, I would comfortably and ably table that, but I am saying this based on information that I have gathered from members of the public and students who say that there is a militia group calling itself “Gaza” whose godfathers are former Mungiki leaders and members. It is a fact. According to many students, especially in my constituency and constituencies neighbouring mine, militia groups are recruiting students as young as those in classes five, six, seven and eight. They are encouraging the students to engage in a lot ... view
  • 30 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: high school. They target young people who have completed their high school education and who are basically without hope in this world. These people are ready and willing to do anything because they have absolutely nothing to lose. Because of the concerns I expressed yesterday, I say this as a closing remark knowing very well that it is out of the topic. As my farmhand, Mr. Karanja, was abducted, he had an opportunity as he was on phone, to tell the person he was speaking to on the other side: “Let me call you back. My life is in danger.” ... view
  • 29 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 29 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. My point of order is in regard to the issue of petitions brought to this House. You have just communicated a Petition by a Kenyan. About three months ago – the Chair of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security, Hon. Kamama, may be better apprised of the matter – on behalf of Petitioners from Kiambu County, I tabled a Petition before this House, and it was committed to the Committee. It was on issues to do with the establishment of militias in this country and the threat that such militias portend to members of ... view
  • 29 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: country. If you allow me, Hon. Speaker, I will read the note and table it before the House, together with the official report that I have made to the DCI. The note was titled: “ Wanangaza .” As far as I am able to gather, Wanangaza is a group that has emerged after the demise of view
