  • 5 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, therefore, I urge the Members of this House to speak out and support this Motion to make sure that the National Treasury, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and all other relevant ministries including the Ministry of Devolution and Planning weigh down on these county governments to ensure that they are not doing things that are prejudicial to our national economy. view
  • 5 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, therefore, I beg to move that Motion and urge Members to support it. Let the National Treasury and county governments have the interests of our people at heart because it is our people who are suffering. view
  • 5 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: I can say that almost 30 per cent of the population in the constituency where I come from, which is Kikuyu are our youth who are employed in the matatu industry. Others are employed in the taxi business and if we are going to drive them out of business tomorrow, we are the same people who will be complaining about insecurity. This youth will become a problem to us even in our comfort zones, therefore, it is very important that we speak out and support them because it is a sector that is very important to this country. view

These are people who cannot defend themselves on the Floor of this House. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 27 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I support this Bill since many hon. Members of this House are very supportive of it. Indeed, we all recognise the fact that security is paramount for the well-being of all Kenyans. Would I be in order to ask that, in the interest of time, we put the Question and have the Bill passed? view
  • 26 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I rise to support the Motion on the calendar noting particularly what the Leader of Majority Party has said, that indeed, many of the Members of Parliament in this Eleventh Parliament are young parents. I am particularly excited because this calendar incidentally coincides with school holidays. I can see hon. Mungaro is also quite happy. This is because we have truly been struggling to balance between our national duties and responsibilities to our constituents and our families. It is very positive that this House and its leadership have considered those of us who are young parents ... view
  • 19 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I wish to thank hon. Sakaja for donating that one minute. This is good legislation to start with. It is not just about procurement opportunities, but it is about creating job opportunities. That is because when you give a tender to one youth, that will translate into thousands of jobs to other youths. However, I have also heard sentiments on the need to create some local content in all procurement in this country. It is a matter that should be of great concern to the people The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for ... view
