  • 11 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. First of all, I want to condemn the killing of our 20 police officers who lost their lives in the course of their duty in Kapedo. We condemn in every meaning of that word. We grieve with their families because as the former commander of these officers, it is really touching to lose officers in this kind of manner. We also condemn any officer in uniform who commits a crime of arson; a crime of burning houses in the course of duty. This has never been seen anywhere in the entire African Continent and ... view
  • 11 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Chapter 4, that is the Bill of Rights, you want to suspend the Constitution; the right to movement. Section 39(1) has been breached in this operation. Article 40(2(a) is on deprivation of property. About 60 shops were burnt and many people were actually beaten and maimed. So, this provision of the Constitution has been breached. The provision on Article 40 (3)(b) is on compensation, where if you have to take land or destroy some property, you must pay compensation. That has also been breached. On the right to human dignity, when officers enter houses that have babies, with teargas it ... view

  • 22 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. If you can remember, before we came up with the new policy, which we are doing away with, on the Committee on General Oversight, we used to have that time for exhibition. You used to refer to this. I want to get guidance or even the position of the House in a matter just like the one that was raised by hon. Midiwo. It looks like my good friend has been given preferential treatment compared to others. Each and every hon. Member here has a special issue concerning his constituency or even a national issue. • 21 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for granting me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Bill. I want to support the sentiments of Leaders of Majority and Minority Parties on this Bill. I want to thank the Committee chaired by my good friend, hon. Langat, Member of Parliament for Ainamoi Constituency, for coming up with a very special Bill concerning our business environment. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, a country without highly developed financial sector and good policies on securities and investments can never move forward. That cannot be gainsaid. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, if you Google ... view
  • 21 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: committee has come up with this time. I am saying this because I also trade in financial securities. When I was District Officer I in Murang’a, I went to Kenya Commercial Bank to buy Treasury Bills. When I went to the bank, the manager told me that he did not have the forms because nobody was trading in Treasury Bills. Therefore, he had to go to Nakuru to get the forms so that I could fill them. Therefore, this is an area where we must develop. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, if I can take you back, when the current President ... view
