  • 28 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for protecting me. This particular committee meeting was for very personal reasons, and it has nothing that is within my control, and that is the reason why---. If I attended a particular committee meeting, I would have still dissented the approval of the Lady Justice Rawal. My first reason for that, as I have stated, this is a constitutional issue that relates to succession at the Supreme Court, which I think I have sufficiently explained. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the second one, which I said was fundamentally more sentimental to my heart, ... view
  • 22 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion first on the basis that it is a constitutional obligation under Article 69 of the Constitution. Secondly, poaching poses a threat to our biodiversity and also our ecological integrity. Tourism is one of the greatest employment opportunities that Kenyans have. A threat to our wildlife would consequently affect the amount of employment that is as a result of tourism. That will be catastrophic especially in a country that is already faced with very high unemployment levels. view
  • 21 May 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this chance. Ordinary people always ascribe power in constitutions. The Kenyan people ascribed power in the Constitution, giving a distinction between the House of Parliament, which is the National Assembly and the Senate. The role of the Senate and the National Assembly, in my opinion, is not one that should be solved in this House because the Constitution settles it; it is very clear. Article 95 of the Constitution isolates what we really need to be doing as the National Assembly and Article 96 is clear in terms of what the Senate ... view

  • 18 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. First, let me congratulate you on your election as Deputy Speaker. We know that your first round win was devoid of BVR kits issues and Kencall sharing of IP addresses. That shows the immense faith these hon. Members of Parliament have in you, and it is the sort of leadership that is going to prove the Kenyan vote. My congratulations and God bless you. view

  • 18 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Speaker, the President said that he believed in the principles of the rule of law, and that he is also going to work advertently in terms of implementing the Constitution, however, interrogation of the Presidential Address confirms otherwise. I would like to expound on four particular areas. The first one is that the President, in his Address, mentioned the fact that the number of young men and women in this particular House is a manifestation of the gender rule but you know very well that there is already a High Court ruling in which the court directed that ... view

  • 18 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker, for coming to my defence. I do not want to take this chance to give an explanation on the matter of sub judice . I am of a legal background and I know what it means. Hon. Deputy Speaker, I was speaking to the fact that if, indeed, the President--- view
