  • 12 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance. It is with immense nostalgia that I rise to support this particular Motion. If you listened to the history of the National Youth Council, the Mover of this Motion alluded to the National Youth Convention that took place in Limuru in 1997. History gave me a chance to be part of that convention and amongst those who we were with is Hon. Mbarire and other Members. At that particular youth convention, it is important to note that a group of young people from across the country came together having ... view

  • 12 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: hopelessness that is currently attendant across the country does not catch up with us. The youth bulge, if we saw anything else from what happened in the northern part of Africa and other parts of the world, it is something that we must be careful about. If we do not take care of our youth right now, unfortunately, they will take care of themselves and they will be taking care of us in manners that we would not want to imagine. I support this Motion and I really urge that we do whatever is possible to ensure that the National ... view

  • 6 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I think it must have mistakenly gotten off but thank you very much for sympathising with me. I rise to support this Motion. I think it is a Motion that is timely and well thought out. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, this Motion actually is in line with the various provisions of the Kenya Constitution in Articles 25, 26 and Article 43. If you look at them, they give the right to development. For a long time this country has watched development being done in a very skewed manner but right ... view
  • 28 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to oppose the Motion, the first reason being that the person who seconded the Motion highlighted Article 167(1) of the Constitution, which provides that a Judge of the Supreme Court ought to retire at the age 70 years old. We are talking about succession in the Supreme Court given the fact that the Chief Justice and the Deputy Chief Justice will be retiring at the same time. In terms of succession for an institution, that may not be in the best interests of this country. Of course, the procedure ... view
  • 28 May 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, it is true that I am a Member of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee but it is not true that I attended the said vetting session. If I, indeed, attended the said vetting session, I would have recorded my disagreement and opposed the approval. view

  • 28 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon.. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. As I was saying, if I was present in that vetting session, I would have opposed the approval of this Lady Justice. I passed my apologies to the Committee Chairman. view
