  • 2 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I want to support this amendment. The law is very clear that the Auditor-General is an independent office. Even as we take care of the national security interest, it is also important that we ensure that the independence of the Auditor- General is not compromised. If you look at the current Clause 40, it says that the Auditor-General needs to seek authority from another body before he looks at all the issues of national security. I think this amendment is quite important and is in line with the Constitution. view

I have read this Report, but before I contribute to it, I am not sure whether what I have read and what I am hearing from Members of the Committee is representative of what was discussed in the Committee. I am worried that we might be discussing a Report which does not capture the issues which were raised in the Committee. I do not know whether I should just continue assuming that things are okay. Maybe, you can guide me; I want to contribute to this Report. view
