  • 26 Sep 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to contribute to this Motion and to thank His Excellency the President for his Speech on the State of the Nation and the exposition of Government policy during the Joint Sitting of Parliament. I thank him for his humble presentation even though it came at a difficult time for him because we all know what had happened a few days before but he held on to peace, togetherness and he showed the nation that the country is more important than one person or the results of an election. I want to believe ... view
  • 30 Mar 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I also rise to support this Bill. I know that Kenyans love education and I do not think there is anything that people can do to stagnate education. From time immemorial, we know that people themselves started constructing schools and educating the children. If that had not happened, today, we would not be where we are with education. Nevertheless, the areas where there had been historic injustices, as far as education is concerned, it is the local people themselves who took the initiative and built the schools. However, we have seen revolution as far as ... view

  • 5 Jan 2017 in Senate: Can you also let me speak and not just your side? I also have a right to speak. view
  • 5 Jan 2017 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, that is a strong statement from the Senator which creates the impression that the President is bringing these rules so that we can win the election. Could he substantiate and tell this House the source of the information? Those are lies and we should not tell lies in this House. view
  • 5 Jan 2017 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the Senator in order to mislead this House and Kenyans? When you follow all the surveys that have been done, the President has always been on top. In the last survey that was done by the University of Nairobi, the President had 55 per cent against 35 per cent. Why do you mislead Kenyans? view
  • 5 Jan 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Bill which I support. The other side keeps on repeating that Jubilee wants to revert back to manual. However, it has been clearly explained that a back-up does not mean reversing. It is only to make sure that everybody who has a right to vote, votes in case where a machine does not work. Looking at the internet, there are many instances of countries where this method has been used, but the machines did not work. The things they cite are very similar to here. They ... view
  • 28 Dec 2016 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to add my voice. I also congratulate you and the Members for the way they conducted themselves. It was a mature way. Your rulings were also wise. I congratulate the Committee for the responsibility. The Committee on Information and Communications Technology has a room for it. I think the major question before them is whether they need a back-up. If we need it, what type of back-up is it? We all need to have credible elections. Every citizen must have a chance to vote. President Good luck Jonathan’s name was missing in ... view
  • 24 Aug 2016 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also want to add my voice. This Amendment Bill has been mistaken to be a women issue. It is in the Constitution that we all accepted. view
