  • 28 Feb 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, is it in order for the Senate Minority Leader, whom I normally respect, to mislead Kenyans and those people who will pay these loans on the Floor of this House about the money that is being borrowed without telling this House about the development which has been done? Have you mentioned all the roads that are being constructed in North Eastern and all the other development that is taking place there? Which country on earth ever developed with its own money without having to borrow? Even the great America borrows money for development. You should stop misleading ... view

  • 20 Feb 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Pursuant to standing 46 (2) (b), I rise to seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations regarding the Ongoing Recruitment Exercise to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). In the Statement, the Chairperson should:- (1) Provide a comprehensive ratio of the women and men recruits who shall be recruited in the ongoing KDF recruitment exercise; (2) Confirm if the female recruits have been allocated only eight per cent of the available slots and if so, why the allocation has not been pegged on the 30 per ... view
  • 20 Feb 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, two weeks is far too long. The recruitment will be over and the girls will not be helped. So, we would like this answer to come quicker. There is nothing to go and look for. The commanders and the generals are there. view
  • 15 Feb 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I support this Bill and I thank its authors for bringing it. It is timely. My hope is that it will be implemented as soon as possible. The Board that will be charged with its implementation will be put in place carefully to ensure that it has got members who have the interest of the people at heart. • 11 Oct 2017 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. From the onset, I support this Bill. Had this Bill been enacted earlier than 8th August, 2017, I do not think the Presidential elections would have been annulled. This Bill seeks to fill the gaps as they were found by the Supreme Court judges in their majority ruling. This is not to make it easier for the Jubilee Government to win the elections but to make the election of the President, now and in future, free, fair and transparent and to reduce the many questions that were asked by the judges. It is surprising that ... view
  • 28 Sep 2017 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I wish to second this Motion and support it strongly. I thank the Senate Majority Leader for moving this Motion. We, definitely, need to go back to the source, which is the people who sent us to this House. Especially now with the very high political temperatures, the people out there must be wondering what their leaders are thinking. Particularly, I have very close friends out there and respect them a lot. I am sure your voters want to hear what you are thinking. As I support this Motion, I wish to urge the ... view
  • 28 Sep 2017 in Senate: . So, we can only take what was in the debe as the correct position. That is why the electoral law provided that, first, we should have a recount. This did not happen. It is only right to seal that loophole with a law. The others were of course the processes which involve the law. I do not think we should be afraid to look at the law. Some of the laws were passed very late in the day during the 11th Parliament. Also there were many cases that went to court. So, it is not late to tidy the ... view
