  • 17 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: Another problem we have in this country is not being able to access information on employment. Another key objective of this Authority will be to circulate job vacancies advertised by the Government to the youth around the country in a timely manner. I want to speak on the village which I grew up. We have to walk at least 10 kilometres to the local shopping centre to get a newspaper. When you get there, sometimes the newspaper of that day is not there. Now that there will be an Authority that will be fully dedicated to this task of circulating ... view

  • 17 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I support this Bill. I congratulate the Mover and this House. We see a House that is doing the most in the two issues that are of key importance to the Kenyan nation; the youth and education. I am sure this Parliament will go down in history as the House that did the most in changing the fortunes of this country in terms of creating youth employment and in terms of creating educational opportunities for the young people. Thank you very much and God bless you. view

  • 10 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: I am rising on the issue of interest in this Bill. • 10 Jun 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I first want to strongly congratulate my colleague, Hon. Kang’ata, for moving this very important amendment. I also congratulate the Chief Executive Officer of HELB. For the years he has been there, he has done an exemplary job in transforming the Board. I also wish to congratulate Parliament because it will go down in history as one of the Parliaments that have done most in making education affordable to Kenyans especially all the way from primary, secondary to higher education. As much as we want to reform the HELB, with these noble amendments, we ... view
  • 29 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Deputy Speaker. I wish to sincerely thank Hon. Wangwe for moving such an excellent Bill. Further, I wish to thank this House because it will go down in history as the House that has done the most in helping the education system in Kenya. 2013, we passed a Motion that increased the contribution of the Executive to the Free Primary Education Programme by 30 per cent. We are now passing a Bill by Hon. Wangwe that will make examinations free. This is the House that will go down in history as having done the most ... view

  • 25 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: guidance on whether you have powers to do the same with regard to Bills that have been in the conveyor belt of the system of Parliament for quite some time. Do you have powers to give guidance on how long it should take? I am happy about the legislation that we have done in this House with regard to Bills and Motions, especially the two Motions that I moved here with regard to education, which the Government has acted on and another one with regard to fencing of the Kenya/Somalia Border, which the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of ... view
