  • 25 Jul 2018 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, let me add my voice in support of the Statement by the Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Murkomen, regarding the unfortunate statement by some Members of the National Assembly. I am amazed this afternoon that some Members of the National Assembly have not read the Constitution of Kenya, 2010. It is like a preacher or an imam in a mosque who has not read the holy Quran or a Pope in a Catholic domain who has not read the holy Bible and, therefore, they are not worthy the titles they purport to be. They should spare time ... view
  • 24 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity to give my views on this important subject that can transform this nation to prosperity if well articulated. Before I proceed to the thematic areas of this Bill, it is imperative that I state my disdain for the “Lower House’s” inability to amend the Bill after it was rejected last year by this House. I have the Bill that was introduced in this House previously. When I looked at its contents from the beginning to the end, it is the same with the Bill that was before us. It is intact ... view
  • 19 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity also to add my voice on this important and meritorious subject, with regard to what is ailing our education sector. I do not want to repeat what the majority of hon. Senators have alluded to on this subject. However, I need only to emphasize a few issues and observations with regard to the subject matter. It has been stated that education is a constitutional right. Under Article 43, every person has a right to education. We do appreciate that soon after Independence, it was the dream and desire of ... view
  • 19 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to give my support to my sister, Architect Sylvia Kasanga in her Motion that clearly calls for the Kenya Government to address the subject matter which is lack of a standard policy regulation for construction and maintenance of the rural access roads. As it has been clearly stated by the previous Senator, Part 2, subsection 5 of the Fourth Schedule of the 2010 Constitution of Kenya, has bequeathed the county governments with the jurisdiction with regards to dealing with transport, including the county roads. The electronic version of the Senate ... view
  • 18 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir for giving me this opportunity. I stand to support the Petition by Sen. Seneta. I have realised that in her prayers, among others in the Petition, she is asking for enforcement or recognition by way of legislation to cater for that discrimination. I need to pinpoint that area of discrimination of minorities and marginalised communities is well captured in Article 56 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 on specific application of rights. Article 56 of the Constitution is very categorical on what the State ought to do. It says:- The State shall put in place ... view
  • 11 Jul 2018 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for the Senator for Turkana County, Sen. (Prof.) Ekal--- view
  • 11 Jul 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, is it in order for the Senator for Turkana County, Sen. (Prof.) Ekal to go round talking like he is out of his mind? That behavior of going around is concomitant to certain behaviors in certain parts of Kenya. view
  • 11 Jul 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, wait a minute. He was moving around like a witchdoctor. That is unfair. view
  • 3 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to welcome Kunikila AIC Secondary School. Kunikila AIC Secondary School is located in Machakos County where I come from. It is located approximately near the place where my mother was born. It is in Mbiuni, Mwala, Sub-County. It is a school which has been doing very well. I would like to thank them for their sterling performance and I would wish them to continue doing so. I also urge them to continue being obedient to both their parents and teachers. In future, I would wish some of them to fill ... view
