  • 12 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Bill. I stand to vehemently support the Office of the County Printer Bill, Senate Bills No. 7 of 2018. This is great day, considering the kinds of Bills that have been brought forth by other Senators to this House. Today we are debating the Office of the County Printer Bill, Senate Bills No. 7 of 2018, which was crafted by Sen. Were. This is a very nice Bill. I have gone through it clause by clause and I have given it some jurisprudential interpretation. Mr. ... view
  • 7 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for the opportunity to support by brother, Sen. Khaniri. I sympathise with what is happening along that road. I want to give my comments in form of solutions to this challenge that will go a long way to ameliorate the problem of accidents in the country. I have five points:- (1) Traffic campaigns awareness should be enhanced or revisited in all parts of the country, especially along major super highways and other active roads. (2) There should be strict adherence to traffic laws, especially the Traffic Act and the Highway Code. These laws should be ... view
  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. I rise to second this Motion. The country is sick because of corruption and it is a great shame. Those of us seated here as Senators, or in the National Assembly, may think that they have solutions to this problem. I have heard Sen. Mwaura saying these people should be killed. However, there are certain things we need to understand. One is the philosophy of capitalism. It is not easy to kill this animal called corruption. Historically, we appreciate that we inherited the English system. Indeed, the legal system which ... view
  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Yes, the Robespierre’s. I know the guillotine machine which was introduced. I understand that the person who introduced it - Robespierre- was the third to have his head chopped off. Corruption is all over even in other professions. Go to advocates- I am one of them, engineers, doctors and so forth. I can see Sen. (Eng.) Maina, the Senator for Nyeri County trying to wave at me. I do not know whether in approval or disapproval. view
  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me proceed. I do not want interruption. It is on record, I am privileged and I can talk mountains in this House because I have been elected by the people of Machakos to represent them fully. We know instances where even doctors leave needles in patients’ bodies while others are accused of stealing human organs so that someone can get money. It is a shame. This country is corrupt. I do not even know whether the blood of Jesus is enough to cleanse the sins of this country. Today, His Excellency the President said that a ... view
  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Who will watch the watchdogs or watchmen? We have a problem. It is not enough for Members of Parliament just to debate and wish away the problem. We must find solutions. Kenyans are out there watching us and want Members of Parliament to rise to the occasion and fight for them. Otherwise, this country will face a revolution. People will say that they are not going to pay taxes only for the money to be stolen. Even our people will think that we are thieves. When we drive cars, they will think we bought them using their money. It is ... view

  • 31 May 2018 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is a very sad day for this country. I beg to second Sen. Mwaura’s Motion. view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I thank you for spotting me. I have been waiting for a while. I take this opportunity once again to support this adjournment to enable hon. Senators to fully participate in the oncoming Legislative Summit in Mombasa. A lot has been said this afternoon, regarding the happenings or shortcomings at the county levels, but one thing we have forgotten is that what we are fighting is a common enemy known as governors. If I was to do a book, I would do one entitled, “ TheAnatomy and Arrogance of Governors in Kenya .” if these governors were ... view
  • 17 May 2018 in Senate: I am not an orbiter and I am not off the curve. At the opening of my remarks, I said that if governors were reasonable in this country, our work would be very easy. I hope he is not sleeping there. view
