  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: The example I was giving is because we must, as leaders, leave a culture of reading to the new generation. This should start with us the leaders. Let us not focus so much on our forefathers; the political dinosaurs that have been there before. Let us focus on us the new generation; the current leadership. I urge even our good President, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta, when he leaves power, to lead by example by leaving us with a good book that will give his experiences as a leader of this country, what has not worked and what needs to be done ... view

  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, if you look at the economic prosperity of nations and you look at the reading culture index, you will find a co-relation between the economic development of the countries that have used the culture of reading like India, China, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore and Russia, versus the countries that have a lower rating of the reading culture, African countries are at the bottom. So, Kenya could be one of those few countries in Africa that will join South Africa and Egypt in that ranking. Probably, that is where our focus should be to put our ... view

  • 11 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I want to support this Bill. My card has a problem. I think it is still on recess. Thank you for recognising me without my card. I would like to support this Bill by Mheshimiwa Tandaza. At this point and time that we are talking about support to our natural resources and potential as a country, some of the things that we need to look at are crops that are going to benefit our agricultural industry. Bixa is an industrial crop. This Bill has come at the right time ... view

  • 10 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me time to add my voice to an already unanimous support to this Report. Female Genital Mutilation is a primitive, ancient, horrendous and barbaric practice that we should all condemn. I am happy that all the Members who have spoken before me have unanimously condemned that act. I do not believe that even the people who practised it knew the importance of that specific part of the body. In the world of fauna and flora, God created different ways of reproduction. For man, reproduction was sexual. Therefore, that important organ is what ... view
  • 5 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Motion. A birth certificate is an essential certificate in the life of a child in this country. Just like somebody said, we have not inherited this land from our forefathers, but we have borrowed it from our children and we must return it with interest. It is important that our laws are geared towards protecting the rights of our children, our future generation. That is a very progressive Motion in that we are going to ensure that all our children are guaranteed their certificate, which is very important. This ... view
  • 17 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady for giving me an opportunity. It is true that our cards are not working and I hope something is being done about it. • 17 Sep 2020 in National Assembly: Being a young person and a leader in this country, I think it is important to look at the history of youth organizations in this country. The youth agitation to be included in governance and positions of high authority is because of lack of organization at the National Youth Council. We have had several national youth movements and lacked organization in terms of an existing legislation to guide those movements in the country. So, this is in support of the agitation of young people in this country. We should be cognizant of the fact that the movement or Council must ... view
