  • 16 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this important Motion on the matters of delegation of the 62nd Session of the Commission on the Status of Women. Let me start by joining my colleagues by saying that we can never ignore empowerment of women. I would love to support what our colleagues said that empowering a woman is like empowering a whole nation. I would like to appreciate what the Government has done so far. Today we have women CSs, PSs and CASs. We also appreciate what the Government is trying ... view
  • 1 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for granting me this opportunity to contribute and support this important Motion on matters of logging. It is the Departmental Committee on Environment and Natural Resources that came up with the ban on logging. Indeed, there was a national cry which led to the banning of logging. Rivers were drying up. We realised that the rainfall cycle had changed. This was affecting production of food and thus threatening our food security as a country. We also realised the drying of rivers in the country was affecting cattle and crops. That is why ... view
  • 1 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: cover unless we take planting of trees seriously. Therefore, the 10 per cent forest cover in this country is hard to achieve if we do not make sure that KEFRI, which does research and a lot of treating of tree seedlings with the KFS, is empowered in terms of funds so that we have enough tree seedlings. The CS in charge of forestry must take this matter seriously. It is about time we told each other the truth on how we can save this country. There are so many spaces in the forest areas which have no trees. The priority ... view
  • 31 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Since you have given me this time, I will just contribute. I had a lot of interest on matters of logging, but for the matter raised by my colleague from Ijara Constituency, I will commend what the members of the community did. They did not take the law into their hands. At least they did not accept any crime to be committed, but they took the matter to the respective office. Actually, the best thing we should do as Kenyans is to respect one another’s religion and the books that we use for the ... view

  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this important Motion. Being a Member for Njoro Constituency, I consider this programme very serious and important. Njoro Constituency is the most affected. I confirm that climate change has affected us. Rivers have dried up due to logging. We have no water. Parents and children struggle daily to look for water. Due to food insecurity, children from poor homes cannot feed. So, as I stand here, I support this Motion and request that it should not only target the ASAL lands. Children are not going to ... view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: This matter must be taken seriously and be implemented. It must benefit every school going child. We cannot be promoting education if some children are disadvantaged in their respective areas. Mau Narok in Njoro Constituency has been in news headlines because of the way children are affected. Instead of children going to school, they accompany their parents to look for money that can help them get food. view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: So, we should ensure that such Motions are seriously supported and the Government ensures that they are implemented. I will be proposing that if this programme is to be well implemented, it should be constituted in the NG-CDF. We are in a better position to know the most affected schools and areas. So, I support it because Njoro Constituency has been affected greatly. Children are not going to school due to high poverty levels and it is time we supported such initiatives. view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Also, the Government should ensure that every family accesses water. It has become a burden to women and children. It has made the girl child not to go to school. Therefore, let us The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 20 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: push the Government to ensure that everyone accesses water and our children are fed and given an opportunity to learn. view
