  • 13 Apr 2023 in National Assembly: We have been in Azimio Coalition for far too long and the harassment – as it has been explained – has become too much. Azimio has suffocated our space. We talk of democracy but there is no democracy on that side of the divide. It is high time we were recognised as a parliamentary party with our positions and rights. We seek your indulgence to protect our rights. We have seen a letter doing round that they want to remove us from some committees. We delivered for the Azimio Coalition and some of the people being persecuted like Hon. Sabina ... view
  • 13 Apr 2023 in National Assembly: Right now, Azimio is talking of choices having consequences. Hon. Sabina made her choice to support the Azimio Coalition and she paid for the consequences. She cannot continue being intimidated and persecuted every other time. We are setting a very bad precedent. We were not invited to the purported meeting that happened and Azimio Coalition cannot purport to be deciding for us. Azimio says that it already has a name of a Jubilee Member of Parliament to replace Hon. Sabina, but we were not consulted about the name as Jubilee Party. We cannot continue to accept this manner of indulgence ... view
  • 21 Mar 2023 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration the following Question: view
  • 21 Mar 2023 in National Assembly: Could the Cabinet Secretary— (a) Explain the circumstances under which the National Police Service unfairly terminated the service of Sergeant Suleiman Bilali Wanjau aka “Selle” of Service No.72242/97046796, a celebrated Kenyan Boxer, who won 12 medals for the country—among them two gold medals— and confiscated his personal belongings, yet the officer had been undergoing medication and rehabilitation from mental illness at the time? (b) Outline the steps, if any, that have been taken to support Mr Selle in order to assist him to fully recover and resume duties, including catering for his treatment and psychosocial support for mental illness suffered ... view
  • 21 Mar 2023 in National Assembly: (c) Cause the reinstatement of Mr Suleiman Bilali Wanjau and allow him to honourably retire early and pay his retirement benefits in full in honour of the 17 years of his continuous service in the Police Force and outstanding representation of the country in world boxing? (d) Clarify whether the National Police Service handed back to Mr. Wanjau all the personal belongings confiscated from him, including medals and certificates, and if not, state when the belongings will be surrendered to him? (e) State the measures that have been put in place for the welfare of police officers who are recruited ... view
  • 24 Nov 2022 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Speaker, I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport the following Question: Could the Cabinet Secretary consider allocating the unutilized piece of land that belongs to Kenya Railways Corporation next to Marigiti Market to the traders there on a temporary basis pending structural expansion of the new market in the Central Business District area? Thank you. view
  • 22 Nov 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Motion. I am the Member for Starehe Constituency, which is in Nairobi County. The GMO matter directly affects us because in Nairobi, we do not farm but we consume the highest amount of foodstuff that comes into this country. We depend on the upcountry food baskets to supply us with foodstuffs. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for informationpurposes only. • 22 Nov 2022 in National Assembly: With the introduction of GMOs, we stand to suffer the most because, currently, we have food shortages in the slum areas of Starehe and in Nairobi generally. People there eat just about anything because some of them cannot afford a meal in a day. So, when they are provided with cheaper foodstuffs, whether it is poisonous or it is of low safety standards, it does not matter to them. They will willingly consume it because they have no other option. As a former Minister said, it is like raping a woman who is already too willing. view
  • 22 Nov 2022 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Speaker, I strongly object to this idea because if we were to be given an option of cheap GMO foodstuffs, we will be forced to consume them because of the food scarcity that we are already experiencing. We will be the most affected. People in Nairobi are currently suffering from lifestyle diseases due to lack of healthy regimes whereas people in the rural areas have an opportunity to exercise as they till the land. In Nairobi, life is so constricted because we live on a hand-to-mouth economy where you only get time to work for what you need. ... view
  • 9 Nov 2022 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Speaker. I take this opportunity to congratulate my able mentor, Hon. Beatrice Elachi for bringing this Motion on the Floor. It seeks the development of a unified national policy on SMEs. I come from a constituency that heavily relies on trade as its fundamental economic activity. Most of my constituents are traders who fall under this category of SMEs. I stand here to second this Motion because it directly affects my constituents. Most of the market places in Starehe are dominated by traders in this category. view
