  • 11 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I am concerned because we have the leader of Government business and he is sitting pretty. Even if the Chair of the Committee is not here, surely the Government is here. I talked to my county veterinary officer and drugs for the disease are not available. You cannot find them even in agro vets. The Leader of the Majority Party is just sitting pretty. Surely, we would have had a statement from him. view
  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Where I come from, we have a custom of recognising somebody’s achievements when he is alive. Many might not know that before you joined politics, you served for five years as a principal magistrate. As a principal magistrate, your colleagues saw you fit to serve as a chairman of the Judges and Magistrates Association. view
  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: In 1997, I believe, you tried your luck in politics and served in the 8th Parliament. I served with you in the 9th Parliament. As a Member of Parliament, I can say that you were among the best Members of Parliament during that time. view
  • 9 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Later on, you served as a Speaker, not only one term but two. Now that makes me start suspecting that when you were in primary school, you must have been a monitor, and when you were in secondary school, you must have been a prefect, Hon. Speaker, and that is for you to confirm. So, Hon. Speaker, as I congratulate you on your new achievement and recognition by the Njuri-Ncheke, I appeal to Members of Parliament that we all saw what happened in the two parliamentary by-elections and the others for county assemblies. I say so because we have a ... view

  • 4 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to take a very different line. Having looked at this Bill, I am very suspicious. Without casting aspersions, if you read between the lines, you will realise that this is something originating from the banking sector to fight the telecommunication companies engaging in mobile The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 4 Mar 2021 in National Assembly: phone financial services. We all know what Kenyans have gone through as far as bank loans are concerned. We know why most people are very suspicious of the banking sector. Mobile phone operators went into mobile banking due to the failure by banks to do their work. Mobile banking has been very successful because there is no law on it. That is why the environment in Kenya has been one of the most advanced in the world. So, the timing of this Bill is totally wrong. Let us allow the informal banking sector to thrive. At a later stage, when ... view
  • 18 Feb 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I wish to ask Question No.028/2021 to the Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning. (i) When will the Ngong Land Registry be opened following its closure in November 20th 2020, and what measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure that this and all Land Registries across the country are opened noting the inconvenience caused to various stakeholders? (ii) What measures has the Ministry put in place to ensure that services offered in the Land Registries are not interrupted during times of renovations, refurbishments and upgrading? Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
