  • 30 Nov 2022 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I rise to second this Motion and I thank Sen. Lomenen, Senator for Turkana County for this very timely Motion. If you read the content of this Motion and listening to the Member, it presents a very desperate situation prevailing in Turkana. It is desperate because the Motion talks view

  • 30 Nov 2022 in Senate: about deaths of people, livestock and a situation where there is no hope. This situation has definitely denied the great people of Turkana the enjoyment of their social, economic and even political rights as provided for in Article 43 of our Constitution. The basic livelihood of the people of Turkana and, indeed, the pastoral areas is livestock farming in terms of the food, for clothing, payment of fees for their children and every other livelihood situation, it is the livestock. If this situation arose elsewhere, I assure that the entire Government machinery would have been sent to deal with the situation. view
  • 30 Nov 2022 in Senate: It is time, as Members from the pastoralist areas, to call upon Government. I have a lot of faith and confidence that our President will be able to rise to the occasion and this time round look for permanent solutions so that we do not wait for drought to arise but plan before we reach at this situation in terms of providing water, food and irrigation in those areas. view

  • 24 Nov 2022 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This confirms that there is a serious issue in this country. It is a Constitutional right as said in the Statement. During the last election in my County, many youths were not able to participate because they were not registered. They never got their Identification Cards (IDs) and therefore could not be registered as voters. As a House, this is our responsibility. I thank Sen. Mumma, for this Statement. This morning, during my Committee Sitting, we had the Director General (DG), for Immigration and Registration of Persons in attendance. This is a time to request ... view
  • 17 Nov 2022 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, sir, my colleague, Senator for Narok County, has stated my sentiments. It is wrong for Sen. Cherarkey to allege that Sen. (Prof.) Tom Ojienda, SC has spoken about the matter in court when he only said that there are proceedings in court. So view
