  • 16 Sep 2020 in Senate: If anything happens to the citizens of this country on matters to do with health because of this statement, Governor Oparanya will be responsible for it. The most unfortunate thing that governors in this country did is when they elected Governor Oparanya as the Chairman Council of Governors (CoG). It was very unfortunate and it is my wish that you, as governors, will never commit such a mistake. If possible, you should repent of such a mistake that we made during that time. Governor Oparanya is a shame and is a person who applies double standards. Governor Oparanya is, in ... view
  • 16 Sep 2020 in Senate: Thank you for those very important pieces of information. I am very sure that what he has said today is not representational information to all the other governors. I have a governor friend who says he never consulted them and he is just speaking his own mind. I am so sure that most of the governors in this country who are law-abiding will never follow such a reckless leader in this country. Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. view

  • 8 Sep 2020 in Senate: this is a House that should listen to all Kenyans, I want to believe that this Petitioner has not exhausted other avenues at the county level. This is a matter that I would have expected this Petitioner to petition the county assembly in that county. Even at worse, this Petitioner should have petitioned the County Public Service Board (CPSB). Suppose we make a recommendation that this Petitioner be allowed to be transferred where he or she wants, we shall attract so many Petitions of this kind that the Senate will not move or do anything else apart from micromanaging county ... view
  • 4 Aug 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to support this Motion on the extension of the time for the Ad Hoc Committee on MES. The Committee was almost concluding its investigation when COVID-19 struck. The Committee has faced a lot of challenges in meeting various persons of interest who were meant to give important information. Some of the persons of interest are currently serving as ambassadors outside the country and so it was not easy to reach them. I would like to remind the Ad Hoc Committee that every Kenyan is looking forward to their report ... view
  • 28 Jul 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for also giving me this opportunity to support this particular Motion with the amendments given in it. First, I congratulate this particular House for taking a decision instead of postponing it forward. It is very important because Kenyans were almost seeing this House as a center of indecisiveness. However, today we are making a decision to move forward and that is a plus to this particular august House. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 28 Jul 2020 in Senate: I support these particular amendments, first, because of time. Time is a healer of all maladies in life. The two years that have been proposed, I want to add and tell Sen. Kang’ata to also pressurize the National Treasury to make sure that we are given more funds, so that we get enough to share instead of engaging ourselves in scrambling for Kshs316.5 billion. By the time these two years elapse, that particular opportunity will have been engaged to make sure that we push the National Treasury to give us more money. I want to notify this particular House that ... view
  • 28 Jul 2020 in Senate: On a point of order, Madam Deputy Speaker. I do not know why my friend, Sen. Mutula Kilonzo Jnr., is anticipating that we are going beyond time thus trying to tell us that we should hurry this debate. We would like to be given enough time to ventilate on this issue. I suggest that we adjourn at 9.00 p.m. which is the official curfew time, and pick up this debate later. view
  • 28 Jul 2020 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, we must follow the COVID-19 protocols because we are risking the lives of other people. view
