Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to celebrate this great day for our teachers, and I am one of them. Teachers are very important people in our lives. They mould our children right from Baby Class to university level. Any country all over the world that minds the character, behaviour, knowledge and wisdom of their children must take care of their teachers. As Sen. Wetangula said, we rarely celebrate our teachers and appreciate what they are doing. Sometimes they down their tools demanding for better terms of service and even for their allowances to be increased. ...

formative stages. These are teachers who model the children. Therefore, the way we handle them is the best. As I speak, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is frustrating the teachers’ unions. Yesterday, I heard the Secretary of the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) saying that the TSC is not remitting teachers’ deductions to them. These unions take care of the welfare of the teachers. By frustrating them, TSC is killing the teaching profession. The Government must rethink about the welfare of the teachers because they stay longer with our children than us. The future of our children depends on ...

Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for also giving me this chance to support this important Petition. Issues to do with land, boundaries and so forth are very emotive. The public still holds this House with a lot of confidence. That is why very important Petitions come to this particular House. However, I am afraid that the rate at which we are not responding effectively to them might not augur well with our petitioners. Apart from talking about the National Assembly effecting the County Boundaries Bill as stipulated in Article 188 of the Constitution, there was also a time we ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for also giving me this opportunity to say something. I want to support this petition. Issues affecting the Ministry of Education currently are so numerous that they require a lot of attention even from this House. If we remember from 2013, there were so many robust changes in the Ministry of Education that took place including free secondary education that I really tend to think some times that maybe the country was not even ready for it simply because schools have been left like that in the name of free education. They are so populated ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this chance to say something on domestic tourism. This week we were in Maasai Mara with the Standing Committee on National Cohesion, Equal Opportunity and Regional Integration. We witnessed this one practically because there are so many local tourists. The management of hotels were telling us that the economy is stable because of domestic tourism. They told us that if the Government assisted them in terms of infrastructure, improved roads and water in those areas, domestic tourism can bring a lot to this country. The Ministry concerned should take this sector seriously ...

Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker for giving me the opportunity to say something. First, I would like to thank God the Almighty for the protection and the guidance that he has given this House up to today that we have resolved a lot of conflicts on matters to do with this particular formula. I would like to suggest that in future, the leadership and the Executive should be taking a proactive approach. They should not be waiting until the last minute when the country is almost divided in the middle that they come up with a solution. This particular House ...

the win-win formula. He was so bold unlike other leaders who are even aspiring presidential candidates and they were mobilizing us here to go against the win-win formula. I want to congratulate him. He has been so bold. It was not easy but he advised the country and the Senate to go the win-win way. I want to thank God for this particular day because all of us Kenyans have a reason to smile. I do not know what those Senators who were losing, would have gone home to tell their people. The people down there in the village think ...

Madam Temporary Speaker, I request that we take this issue seriously. We are dealing with somebody who has denied human health in this country. He has closed in-patient services in all the hospitals. He has issued a statement and we do not want to take it carelessly. This is a criminal who is supposed to be in jail. He is a murderer.

Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to comment on this important debate. I want to tell Governor Oparanya that he has violated Article 43 of the Constitution, which states that; "Every person has the right to the highest attainable standard of health, which includes the right to health care services, including productive health care."
