  • 12 May 2020 in Senate: Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I would like to add my voice on this one because I am a Member of the Jubilee party. Just as the ruling had been made and an extensive one will be made later, there are some issues which I would have mentioned according to the Standing Orders, but because of time I will not. Standing Order No. 19 (5) states- “A Senator elected under paragraph (1) may be removed by a majority of the votes of all the Senators belonging to the Majority Party.” I would have added that one because ... view
  • 12 May 2020 in Senate: I will make comments as we progress. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as I was listening, I would like to encourage Sen. Malalah for being able to see some changes in Jubilee. However, he did not comment the same when his party was removing Sen. Wetangula in a very painful process. I think he should remove the log in his eye so that he can see the spec in other people's eyes. view
  • 12 May 2020 in Senate: Being a Member of the Jubilee Party, we have not exhausted the matter. We shall continue fighting for the same until the right channel is followed and all the means are exhausted democratically. view
  • 28 Apr 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speake, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to make my contribution. I thank the Committee for the good work they have done and a lot of effort that they have put in, despite the challenges that the country is currently facing. My worry is that as much as we are fighting COVID-19, there are many challenges facing our people, especially in slums because of lack of food. My worry is that we might be fighting COVID- 19 only for our people to die as result of malnutrition. What are we doing to the street children to ... view
  • 28 Apr 2020 in Senate: Exactly, Sir. We shall go in that direction maybe from next week. Many people are also worried about matters to do with education, examinations and the rest. I tend to think that we shall as a Committee on Education take that up so that he may shed some light on the same. I am happy that they touched on motivation of the health workers. It was unfortunate that Dr. Joel Lutomia was sacked during this period of time when his services are needed most on such a singular error or anything like that. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, you are a ... view
  • 28 Apr 2020 in Senate: careers. I thank the Committee that they are already on it and we expect that that matter will be solved amicably. I join the rest who are saying that the fight against COVID-19 in our counties has not been felt. One of those counties is Bomet. I was asking them what they have received from the national Government and they told me that they had only received a thermometer gun worth Kshs6,000, yet we hear the Government is spending almost Kshs1billion every day. Where does this money go to? Our oversight in this area should be strengthened so that we ... view
  • 17 Mar 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to strongly support this Motion for Adjournment of the Senate. I support it because most social institutions, including education institutions; secondary schools and universities, have closed. To show solidarity with the same--- view
  • 17 Mar 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. In solidarity, as leaders, it is important that we adjourn, so that people can see the seriousness of our participation in controlling this pandemic. Secondly, this House consists of Members who widely travel all over the world. I remember two weeks ago, I went to Germany and there were a lot fears. When we arrived back in the country, even our colleagues felt insecure. A few minutes ago when I came in here, Sen. Murkomen almost ran out of the House. To make us feel secure, I believe it is important that we reinforce this ... view
  • 10 Mar 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to also extend my condolences to the family and all the people that were being represented by hon. Suleiman Dori. His death was very untimely, as Sen. Wetangula has said. We were together last week in the gym; he was jovial and was doing well. I regret the death that has affected all of us very negatively. He was a great man. First, I really admired his approach towards matters politics. When he talked even in the rallies about the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), he was so particular irrespective of ... view
  • 5 Mar 2020 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. First, I thank you for clearing the air that we were not locked up in Germany. We were safe and are now back. I would like to contribute--- view
