  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Yes, but since I am on the Floor, allow me to proceed. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you. I do not know why the Leader of the Majority Party is agitated and yet, he is my boss and I am a very loyal Member of the party. He has no reason to worry while I am on the Floor. I am a very loyal Member. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I support the Motion by the Member for Mogotio on harassment by game rangers in his community. It is very unfair to have taxpayers harassed by the employees they pay. I wish all of us could take seriously the issue of people being harassed by individuals who are supposed to protect their interests. The same thing is happening in my constituency. Game rangers take advantage of the community and clear our forests. That is very unfortunate. This matter, having reached here, I would wish that the Members tackle it. However, as Members of the august House, ... view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: First, the Member for Kiminini will be the next victim of what has happened in the Senate. view
  • 20 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: The issue of harassment is not new to this House. It just happened to Raila and then to Wetangula. I wish it could quickly extend to Wamalwa and the rest of those who do not toe the line. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes only. Acertified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor. view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I join the list of Members who feel this list of Cabinet nominees should be approved. I support the entire list but with reservations on one nominee, Ms. Monica Juma. Ms. Monica Juma was presented before us in the last Parliament, I was among those who opposed her then appointment. It will be very difficult for me to stand here today and support her present nomination, but since you have said that we should be very forgiving and she has apologised and reformed, maybe we should give her a second chance to serve this country. However, ... view
  • 14 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: girl who grew up knowing that as a girl you could not easily get a chance to develop. It is because in those times, the society so much discussed issues of men more than women. As I stand here today, Farida Karoney joins the list of the few Nandi women who have succeeded in life by getting to the level she is today. Dr. Sally Kosgey, at one point served this country as a PS and also as a Minister for Agriculture. I can say today that Farida is in that league. I support the entire list knowing that some ... view
  • 11 Oct 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, let me rise and support this Motion. Before I make my remarks, let me congratulate you for winning the Kibwezi East Parliamentary Seat. I think this is your second time in the Speaker’s Panel. I rise to support this Motion that has been brought by Hon. Melly. Hon. Melly is my neighbour. I also have farmers in my constituency who engage in the same business. So, when I rise, I am actually expressing my frustration too. It is very frustrating that somebody can occupy quite a size of his farm for approximately two years with sugar-cane ... view
  • 11 Oct 2017 in National Assembly: farmers who were rich are now the poorest in this country and yet, they have huge pieces of land down there. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, it is very unfortunate that, despite the fact that farmers wake up in the morning, go to their farms and thereafter sell their produce, they are not paid. When you go to those companies, they have no sugar in their stores. Who actually takes their money? Some of the farmers take loans which attract penalties. After millers buy the farmers’ produce, they make standard payments, even if they stay with the produce for more than ... view
  • 15 Jun 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Deputy Chairman, I stand here to oppose the proposal. My approach is that it is very difficult to have a Committee that sits to investigate a matter in this country and before they even end the investigation, their term expires. Knowing that in most cases we tend to train Members, there is no need to train them and then before they utilise the skills they have been trained for, membership is changed. It is always better to have them serve for the entire term of Parliament. view
