  • 25 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: money, or they do not spend it well. We would like Treasury to make proper follow-ups so that this money is spend well. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) should also strive to collect enough revenue and at the right time. The KRA should follow up on taxpayers so that we have money to spend. Maybe an institution of inquiry could have been allocated money but at the time they want the money it is not there to spend. So, let us avail the money when it is required and if there is a failure then we lay the blame on ... view
  • 19 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker for this opportunity. I congratulate my brother and neighbour for having brought this petition because we have been haggling over this issue. It appears that the County Government has ignored the cries of the leaders, we as Members of Parliament and also the residents of this constituency. His constituency; Igembe North, my constituency, Igembe Central and Tigania East are the constituencies affected. They are on the same corridor which has been earmarked for a game reserve. Whereas we have got Meru National Park, Kora and many others and animals are not even full there, we need ... view
  • 19 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Speaker, I stand to oppose the Motion and I want to support my brother hon. Aburi. I and hon. Aburi are the only two Members of Parliament who were elected on ODM ticket in the Mt. Kenya region. We went through hell to get our seats. Even today, when I go home, I am carpeted left right and center because of this party. But I am ever here because I came on the ticket of ODM. • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Here, we are talking about culture and the law which exists. In as much as the Leader of the Majority Party has already given a clear Statement on what the government is doing to mitigate this--- I want it to be known that if the law is there; it has to be enforced to the letter; if it is culture, then we should know which should supersede the other one. Recently, we saw women in Narok defending their culture; tomorrow; we will see them in Garissa; the next day we will see them in Meru. What is the Government going ... view

  • 11 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for giving me this opportunity to seek a clarification. The way the Chairperson has issued his Statement is that the central Government just handed over whatever was done to the county governments and it is up to the county governments to pick them from there. It was just a sweeping statement to the extent that there was work which was done at a particular percentage and level and from that point, the county governments were supposed to take over. I believe that if the work was started by the central Government, it should have ... view

  • 4 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill and congratulate hon. Ichung’wah for the bold move he has taken to bring this Bill to this House. First, I support the amendment that alcohol has become a national disaster. We get several deaths and officers are sacked but nothing happens after that. Those aggrieved are left with their families to suffer the consequences. There are no follow-ups done. I support that this should be taken as a national disaster. Rehabilitation centres should be opened within our counties so that we can rehabilitate those who have been addicted ... view
