  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill by my good friend, Hon. David Ochieng. I stand to support the Bill because I feel it will bring some sanity in our parastatals and other public institutions. It will bring order, accountability and integrity into our public institutions. Our public institutions, especially parastatals, are going down by the day. Since Independence, we have had many situations of parastatals going down and others being mismanaged. The people who make them go down just go home scot-free. That comes about because most directors who manage ... view
  • 12 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: become a thorn in the flesh in this country and we cannot fail to mention it. We have been seeing KQ as the Pride of Africa. Unfortunately, when the losses were put in the public domain, everybody was shocked with what was happening. We have Uchumi which has been going down. It had just been bailed out by the Government. It is going down again. Taxpayers’ money is used and the people who have made the parastatals to go down are appointed to other positions. Therefore, this Bill should include disciplinary measures against those people who make parastatals go down. ... view
  • 11 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Bill. I support it. County governments have been tasked with the duty of laying the foundation of our children’s education. They should also develop a proper framework for infrastructure development, teacher employment and provision of appropriate learning environment. This Bill will lay the foundation of education in our children to enable them cope with the subsequent stages of their education. It is the duty of the county governments to ensure that our children have proper ECDE centres. They should construct classrooms in every school. They ... view
  • 11 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the intervention. We should bring up our children without tribal affiliations. If we bring up our children in that manner, we will have a cohesive nation that has the same language, ideas and modules that will lead to its prosperity. I support the Bill, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Yes, Hon. Speaker. Thank you. I support the Petition from my colleague. Land issues are becoming very emotive in this country today. I brought a similar Petition in this House which is yet to be finalised where a section of land in my constituency has been hived off and taken back to the Meru National Park yet people have been living there for many years. However, somebody in the lands office purports that the land belongs to the Meru National Park. Similarly, as my colleague has said, some people have been evicted because somebody wants to acquire that land to ... view

  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Bill. I rise to support the Bill on the Kenyatta Mausoleum where the founding father of this country was laid. Let me thank Hon. Muthomi Njuki for coming up with this Bill. In any community, people have their own heritage and history. The late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta is part of the history of this country. We all know his legacy. Opening the Mausoleum where he was laid to the public will go a step further to conserve the same heritage. view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: When Mzee Jomo Kenyatta passed on in 1978, he was laid to rest within the compound of Parliament Buildings. No one knows what is inside that tomb. You cannot even tell if the body is there or not. It should have been taken a notch higher to include some information that would enable people to know our history. Students visit Parliament quite often. You have just recognised a school from Chuka. They should also get an opportunity to visit that heritage sight so that they can know about the history of our country. We should have artefacts belonging to the ... view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: This is a noble idea. I support it. view
  • 5 Oct 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Motion. First and foremost, let me thank the Mover of the Motion for coming up with this idea of having chaplains in our schools. As I support this Motion, we should reflect back and see the evils being brought to bear in our children when they are in school, especially this time when we have a lot of radicalization and some few elements infiltrating our schools and spoiling our children. Our children in school, especially secondary schools, are in their adolescent ages when there are ... view
