  • 17 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, given the fact that in those dispensaries patients pay May 17, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 1447 Kshs10 to procure drugs from the same facility while in district hospitals charge the same rate as they pay Kshs30; what is the relevance of the two payments? Could they reduce them or make sure that even the district hospitals charge the same rate as the dispensaries? After all, the drugs are almost the same! view
  • 16 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, given that the salaries given by the Minister are true, going by what we have just heard, when will this scheme of service be implemented? We will it be back- dated to November, 2006 when the announcement was made? view
  • 10 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Minister is telling us that the schools should buy various scientific equipment from various shops. To me, what is happening in the country is that, some heads are using the same money to buy some tattered science equipment. What my 1268 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES May 10, 2007 friend there is asking is whether there is a way of coming up with one shop that should be centralised so that the science equipment which is very important can reach the schools countrywide. That is our concern. What policy does the Ministry have to make sure that science ... view
  • 9 May 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Livestock and Fisheries what steps he is taking to avert the spread of the Rift Valley Fever in Kirinyaga District. view
  • 9 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister for that answer. But what he has told the House is exactly what my friend, hon. Billow, was complaining about. It takes too long for one to tell that a disease is about to spread. It took very long for these animals to come to Kirinyaga all the way from North Eastern Province. What measures is the Minister taking to make sure that the animals which are in Kirinyaga District are totally free from Rift Valley Fever? According to me, the Ministry has not taken enough measures to prevent ... view
  • 9 May 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the hospitals which were supposed to treat the victims were not properly equipped with equipment and drugs which could control the Rift Valley Fever. Some people were turned away when they went to seek treatment at the Kenyatta National Hospital. They were told to go back to Kirinyaga. As a result, if their relatives did not act swiftly, some of them almost died. What plans does the Ministry have to make sure that in the future hospitals are equipped with the right equipment and drugs to treat livestock diseases? view
  • 26 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, to me it is arson when students are involved in the burning of a library. This is not the first time that libraries, dormitories or even whole schools have been burnt by students. What national policy is the Ministry putting in place with regard to acts of arson, not only in Kitale but everywhere else? This could set a precedent in the whole Republic. view
  • 26 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 26 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Minister has really come up with very good suggestions. Short of that, I am suggesting that Lenana School which is a national school, with its 240 acres of land, is also a ground for our future plans to put up a university. It is not acceptable for the Ministry to target national schools for the expansion of day secondary schools. We would rather have left this land for a university in the future because we also need to expand our universities. view
  • 25 Apr 2007 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Agriculture:- (a) what measures he is taking to revamp the coffee industry; and, (b) whether he could consider compensating coffee farmers in times of crop failure. view
