We only gave, I think, around Kshs5 billion. If you look at the Ministry of Energy as well, they needed more money and we could not raise what they were looking for. Recently, we heard the Cabinet Secretary in charge of roads saying he had got only Kshs17 billion and he had Kshs25 billion goods that he needed to pay for. So, essentially the Ministry does not have money and here we are wasting money; as we were told yesterday Kshs10 billion that could have been used in the right way to help our country grow--- The electronic version of ...

So, I support this Motion and I want to say in this House that I used to work for an international company called IBM and the turnover was Kshs8 trillion in one year. We were 500,000 staff members across the globe. We all travelled Economy Class; I think we should be emulating this kind of example. Let us save money, so that we can use it in so many other areas like security, where it is needed. We know that in this country today women trek long kilometres looking for water. We know today that our young kids are sitting ...

I think it is important for us to take this very seriously. I also dare say that we need to expand this to other areas. We know money is sent to Ministries and we see reports coming out about people being paid for reports or services which are really not necessary. So, I think we need to extend this policy to other areas in the Government. Also I am looking forward to the passing of the Government Service Bill to take care of procurement. We need to look at that holistically, because it is going to save this country a ...

In fact, I look forward again to seeing the procurement law that the Government says it will be bringing here, so that we can try, as much as possible, to streamline the way we spend money; this is definitely a good start. Let us focus on putting money where it should be so as to help this country grow; it is our home and we are duty-bound to ensure that we do the best with the money that we take from our taxpayers.

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for the opportunity to stand up here and support the Bill. I have just come from rural Malindi where I distributed title deeds to the landless people who had never seen them since Independence. I am meant to understand that it cost the Government Kshs20 billion to ensure that we have 60,000 title deeds to be distributed to the hitherto landless people. For that, I want to thank the Government and I know it is because of Kenyan taxes that we are able to get this money and support this programme. So, the subject ...

products have been zero rated. The new Act did not factor in the fact that we need to continue zero rating ICT equipment, both software and hardware. It is my considered view that we will get a chance to amend it. We know the uptake of ICT over the years has been high and this is because since 2005 the Government had a deliberate policy of ensuring that we have ICT products and services zero rated. The uptake has been phenomenon, not just in Kenya but in the whole region. I would like that situation to continue because being a ...

Hon. Deputy Speaker, I have a petition on behalf of the people of Malindi Constituency. It is about the tarmacking of Malindi-Sala Gate Road, C103 which starts from Malindi to Ganda, Kakuyuni, Jilore, Kakoneni, Chakama and then Sala Gate. We, the undersigned citizens of Kenya who are residents of Malindi Constituency, draw the attention of the House to the following: That one of the key pillars to achieving the Vision 2030 is wildlife and tourism. It has been earmarked as a key player in the economic development of this great country. Aware that key roads to tourist sites are critical ...

Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker for this opportunity. I rise to support this Motion. It is timely because over the past few weeks, or months, we have been seeing people organising garbage collection exercises but I think the more you look at them the more you realise that they are engaged in mere public relations exercises, because really taking a deeper look at the situation you will see how bad the situation is in our major towns. I want to state here that this is not a Nairobi affair. Garbage collection is essentially a national shame, if you ask me. ...

Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this important Motion as amended by the hon. Member. I want to thank hon. (Ms.) Kajuju for bringing this very important Motion. We have had this controversial discussion in this country where economic crops are banned haphazardly and people are left to suffer the consequences. I come from Malindi which is known for coconut production. We have been having run-ins with the Government because of Mnazi (Palm Wine). Before we cast aspersions on our economic mainstay, especially products that should be helping our community, it is important ...
