• 20 May 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you, for allowing me to request a Statement from the Chairman of the Committee on Roads and Transportation with regard to the Mombasa- Nairobi Road. Due to the rains, the section between Mariakani, Voi and Mutitu Andei has become a killer road. This is because of pot holes in that section and, because the huge trucks are forcing the cars off the tarmac road, there has been an increase in the number of accidents. Recently, Nairobi and other major towns like Narok have experienced devastating effects of floods after the heavy down pour. Major flooding has led to loss of lives and destruction of property worth millions, both in Narok and in Nairobi. Rivers have been diverted from the natural course by construction of poorly planned permanent structures. • 19 Feb 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the first request is by the Senator for Nyamira who is asking us to regulate the transportation industry. However, my Committee is not in charge of regulating the transport industry; we are in charge of regulating electricity. Therefore, I undertake to answer Sen. Obure’s question in ten days’ time. But, maybe, for the transport industry, it should have been taken to the Committee on Roads and Transportation. view
