  • 1 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: This is not a shouting match! view
  • 1 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, now I do not have much time left. I would like to tell whoever interrupted me that next time he puts his mouth on gear, he should make sure that his brain is engaged. view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Speaker. view
  • 25 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, it was just about what the Leader of Majority Party said about the former Attorney-General. But I think it was overtaken by events. He exhibited some dictatorial speech. view
  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance to add my voice to this amendment Bill by hon. Ng’ongo. I think hon. Ng’ongo thought very keenly as to what he wanted to achieve by this Bill. I would say that the VAT Act as it is now is a danger to health care in this country. You can import an ambulance duty free, but if you try to get one locally, you will pay duty. This is very unfortunate. In the last Parliament, and perhaps that is one of the reasons why I managed to come back ... view
  • 19 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: find that the drugs manufactured locally have now become more expensive than the drugs imported, yet the drug industry in Kenya actually serves East and Central Africa. The drug manufacturers in Kenya control 75 per cent of drug market in East and Central Africa. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, by adding VAT on raw materials, we price our products out of market. Therefore, very soon factories will close down; our children who have studied pharmacy and pharmaceutical technologies and who have gained experience in drug manufacturing are going to lose that chance of being employed. Therefore, in other words, what we ... view
  • 4 Mar 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I am just wondering, after the hon. Member asked for the Mover to reply, the Question was put. We skipped the part of the Mover replying and moved to the next Order. That is what I wanted to catch your eye on. view
  • 27 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. The issue hon. Kamama is talking about I think is very important because I believe that a House Committee, apart from just getting the answer from the Principal Secretary, is also an oversight committee. That is one of our reasons for being in Parliament. In the situation that I have heard here whereby an Assistant Chief who had been promoted is now being brought back to where he was and issues of security are being mentioned, why was this Assistant Chief not sacked or suspended, if indeed there were security issues? view
  • 27 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I think the issue of the Provincial Administration is so important to the lives of Kenyans that I believe this Committee should have delved further into the issue. They had been given the mandate to look into this matter and find out what all this was all about. This is because if hon. Kamama says the requirement is KCSE C (Minus) and above, what about those who had been employed before that condition came up? I believe what hon. Kaluma was saying is that this chief had been employed before and then he was sacked because he did ... view
  • 27 Feb 2014 in National Assembly: not misdirected into political issues despite the Committee saying that these are sideshows and things like those. That is the bread and butter of the life in Kajiado. So, it is not sideshows. I think the Committee needs to delve into this thing to its logical conclusion and bring to account those people who have caused this debacle in Kajiado. view
