1 Oct 2013 in National Assembly:
Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. First of all, let me take this opportunity to thank the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade, and his team for coming up with very good amendments to the Insurance Act. I want to speak squarely on issues that pertain mostly to my constituency. People come out, follow the law and pay for their insurance policies but it becomes very difficult for them to access compensation when the risk occurs. The Committee did a very good job but at the same time, they have bestowed the responsibility of seeing that everybody ...

With regard to the integration of the East African Community, Kenya has always been in the lead. I want to thank the Chairman for taking the lead. If the other East African Community countries do not abide then we could ask them to check and amend their laws to be in conformity with what we are doing. If you look at my area, there are a few people who are now coming together to form a small co-operative society with the aim of buying land and property. Their intention is to make money. It is not the rich only who buy property in up market areas. All I want to say is that, as the speakers have said, whatever money is The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this ...

collected is for purposes of giving services to the poor and it is a misconception to say that we are taxing the poor without considering how much the rich are paying. I want to say that the amendments that have been brought by the Committee are in place and we support them so that we can be able to move. Thank you.

5 Sep 2013 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, Sir, first of all, I want to thank you for giving me this opportunity and thank the Leader of the Majority Party for bringing this Motion. Recently, I had an opportunity of listening to the wife of the late Dedan Kimathi in a function that we had at a place called Bahati. That old lady, despite her age, still recognizes the issues at the ICC. We were around nine hon. Members and she challenged us in that meeting to come to Parliament and resolve to delete Kenya from the ICC as signatory to the Rome Statute. She spoke ...
