  • 22 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Now, the Minister has confirmed that in my constituency, those institutions seriously require upgrading. Could the Minister confirm in this House that through African Development Bank (ADB) funds, at least, one of my polytechnics will benefit? I have documents to prove that they have already sent the requirements to your office. Mr. Speaker, Sir, because of the state of the polytechnics in my place, could I request the Minister to accompany me to my constituency at her own appropriate time, so that she can look at them herself? Mr. Speaker, Sir, my point was on ... view
  • 21 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to the Vote of this very important Ministry in this country. The Ministry of State for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030 is a very important Ministry to this country. Kenyans today are talking about Vision 2030 as the hope for this country. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Minister for bringing forward this Budget. However, I would like to mention a few issues regarding what must be done so that, we, as a country, can move forward. One very important ... view
  • 16 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. You have heard the Assistant Minister loud and clear. From his statement, it is clear that he is not interested at all in taking care of those Kenyans. You have also heard him say that he will implement several things when he forms his government. Could he tell this House where his loyalty is at the moment? view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this very important Motion. I would have wished to contribute when the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Government was listening because--- view
  • 15 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, I have seen that he is ably represented. The Ministry of Local Government is very important in this country. Last year when we were campaigning, most of us were doing so on the platform of devolvement of funds to the grassroots. One best example is through the local government. Therefore, our belief is that through the local government we can see how devolvement of funds can succeed in our country. Through the local government, we expect that every corner of our country is allocated funds, and that all our areas develop at almost the same rate. ... view
  • 14 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Minister has said that she has not heard of anybody who has died because of hunger. Is she waiting for one Kenyan to die so that she can act? Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this Question touches on the lives of Kenyans. I would request that this Question is deferred so that the Minister comes with a satisfactory answer because Kenyans are almost dying! Is she waiting for them to die? view
  • 14 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. On 22nd July 2008, the Chair directed the Departmental Committee on Education, Research and Technology to open an inquiry into the students unrest and strikes in secondary schools and file a report for deliberation by the House. I wish to inform the House that the Committee visited most parts of the country, including some of the affected schools to gather views. The response from the stakeholders was overwhelming and I sincerely wish to thank all of them. Secondly, the Committee is considering the views and evidence and compiling the same at ... view
  • 9 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for Provincial Administration and Internal Security:- (a) whether he could confirm that a new Mosop (Nandi North) District has been created; (b) when the Government will construct the headquarters for the district and post the respective heads of departments, and; (c) what budgetary allocations have been made for the district headquarters in the 2008/2009 Financial Year. view
  • 9 Oct 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, let me thank the Assistant Minister for the answer given. The Assistant Minister has given the answer so casually to the extent that he portrays the image that the people of Mosop Constituency are not being treated as Kenyans. The purpose of creating new districts is to move services closer to the people and to ensure efficiency in their provision. As a result of the creation of the new districts and the posting of the DC, the people of Mosop do not get proper services due to the fact that no vehicles have been given to all ... view
