  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Minister for the elaborate answer, especially on the expansion of the TTIs. But I want the hon. Minister to indicate to this House the status of Ziwa and Bomet. Why have they not taken off as of today? view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. This Question is meant to ensure that all scholarships coming to this country go to all Kenyans. The Minister has confirmed to this House today that some scholarships come through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We have never seen any advertisements calling for Kenyans to apply for these scholarships under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Am I in order to request that this Question be deferred, so that the two Ministries can sit together and bring a comprehensive answer to this House? view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for giving me this opportunity to also contribute to this very important Bill. This is a very important department in the Republic of Kenya. For any nation that wants to progress, this is the most important service. The NSIS in this country provides a lot of information to various departments, but action is never taken. I want to call upon the Government that it is time they took information from this department very seriously, so that we can have a stable country. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, regarding the functions of the Service, if the ... view
  • 22 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, thank you for that pardon. Lastly, it is important for us to increase the number of police officers, so that they can perform their duties. If need be, the reforms in the police are very important at this time, especially in our country. The reforms will enable them to perform their duties well. We have that clear separation of the roles of those particular people. With those few remarks, I beg to support. view
  • 21 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, listening to the Minister’s response to this Question, it goes without saying that we are doing very badly in terms of the rankings especially in Africa where I believe we should be in the lead. The Minister should be working towards ensuring that we are number one; rather than looking at the challenges that she has mentioned. One of the reasons she has given is that the number of researches posted on the website counts when ranking is being done. What is she doing to ensure that all researches done by our universities are posted on the ... view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the threat by the KNUT and KUPPET to go on strike in September is in the public domain. Therefore, I want the Minister for Education to take matters of education more seriously than ever before. We do not want to see our teachers on the streets because that will disrupt learning in schools. What urgent measures is he putting in place to ensure that teachers do not go on strike? He says there are no issues. If there are now issues, could he call for a dialogue so that he is able to resolve these things amicably? view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: asked Minister for Industrialization:- (a) whether he is aware that the construction of “ Jua Kali” sheds at Kaiboi town, Mosop constituency has stalled since 2010; and, view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am very disappointed by the Assistant Minister’s answer. This programme was meant to construct jua kali sheds in all constituencies in Kenya to benefit the youth of the Republic of Kenya. Since they returned the money, we have had the Budgets of 2010/2011, 2011/2012 and now we have 2012/2013. Could he assure the residents of Mosop that the money is factored in the 2012/2013 Financial Year? When is he going to release this money? view
  • 16 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I asked this Question for the benefit of the people of Mosop. You stopped the Assistant Minister before he actually answered the simple question as to when he is going to consider this centre. view
  • 15 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the Assistant Minister in order to avoid answering the question? The formal request that he is referring to is a formal request through the District Education Board (DEB). The secretary to the DEB is the District Education Officer (DEO), who is his own officer. Is he in order to avoid doing his job? view
