  • 16 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this House pleads for your indulgence. The Leader of Government Business is seeking an adjournment of the House. He has emphasised that we have worked for four years tirelessly. To my dismay, the contentions and the conclusions were that we have several pending Bills that we need to exhaust before this 9th Parliament proceeds to the next general elections. That presumes that there is another Government that will come to vote. If we have been given homework by our nationals, we must finish that home work. I stand to oppose the adjournment on the Floor of ... view
  • 15 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I do not know whether the Assistant Minister is aware that, under-dosage of any drug that is administered to animals or human beings creates resistance to ticks and other viruses that one would want to kill. If there is only one dip in that area, how sure is the Assistant Minister that the animals being dipped there will not develop resistance because the ticks will not be killed by any other acaricide? view
  • 15 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. You were trying to tell us what you had been communicated to by the Minister, but the Assistant Minister stood up to ask for more time to answer the Question. Could I ask for your indulgence to tell us about your communication with the Minister? view

I would like to know from the Assistant Minister whether the disciplinary action that he takes involves transferring that problem from one school to another or summary dismissal? view

We had the Trade and Supplies Act in the previous Governments and there were many licences. We know why unscrupulous business people would like to prevent upcoming people in trade. We had an embargo in the flow of commodities. During that time, there was a case of hoarding commodities which was necessary at that time. Even now, when we talk about restrictions in licensing--- The Ministry of Trade of Industry has reduced the number ... view
  • 15 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: ? He would like to do his job better and export his products. Perfecting of our industry--- Of course, that also affects agriculture. To perfect our industry, we have to relax the Trade Act. We also have to relax the price controls. We have to relax those hurdles that do not encourage our people from free and fair trading. August 15, 2007 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES 3187 Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have learnt from the previous Governments. You could not do anything because the municipal council would require a licence. The Trade and Supplies Act provides for a licence. The Central ... view
  • 15 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I beg to second. view
  • 15 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Is the Attorney-General in order to tell this House what he has been thinking about. Do we have the time? Is the timing right to create constituencies and bring the constitutional amendment at this moment? Why now and not before? view
  • 14 Aug 2007 in National Assembly: No! view
